CLEANING UP A MESS IS A LOT HARDER THAN MAKING IT

Another friend, another tool, and life made easier.

Since my chainsaw still won't work, i was in a tough spot. After tipping over and uprooting several mature trees on our property to make room for the mobile home, I was left with some branch shears and a pruning saw to try to get the work done. While those did work for some of the smaller stuff, I made a call to a friend about getting a chainsaw over.

IT'S A BIG MESS!

In the video above, you can see that I had my work cut out for me today. Thankfully, a friend dropped off a chainsaw earlier today for me!

Why is it that making a mess usually takes less time and is also more fun than cleaning it up? I've got so much going on that I try to make things "digestible" so that they fit into my day and I can make some progress. In this situation, these were the trees that had to go, so options were limited.

Just like this front end loader with a backhoe attachment made the first step of the job a lot easier and faster, I'm hoping that the chainsaw can dig me out of the hole I've made for myself. As I've mentioned before, I grew up being a real procrastinator, so I'm trying to be proactive here and get my work done right away on this project.

It's good to be making daily progress and even when I've got a ton of things to take of, I'll be able to put it all to use. Additionally, by working my butt off I'm staying in shape, which is also very helpful!

On the bright side, I'm getting quite a firewood collection, which can hopefully keep us warm for many winters to come! So far I've just cut the logs into movable sections. I'll cut them to length and split the bigger ones later on after we've actually got a place to live and a home to heat!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Wow! It looks like you are doing a good job though!

Some heavy work you got here. When do you reckon the mobile home will be concluded.
And how is pinkie-pepper☺

I am hoping my the end of May, worst case scenario.

What is the name of those leafless trees?
In our area we cultivate spices such as Cardamom, pepper,Coffey, tea and ginger..Its a hilly area with modest temperature..These kind of trees are unlikely to spot here.

They just haven't budded yet this year and are still dormant.

This is a great chain saw I have one just like it and have used it for years

the three most important tools on a homestead:

Cleaning up the mess is much harder than making it.

Actually you are on point @papa-pepper just the same money is very hard to get but very easy to spend. More grease to your elbow and happy weekend to you.

i think you are right.
its a nice video...

@papa-pepper
Welldone, you got a lot of work to do there, and you sure need more hands so you wouldn't break down..

thats great.its a systematic work.
i appreciate your info...

WOW ....THIS IS POST IS A VEERY GOOD

Oh I wish you were close to me, I would send you my 16 year-old son and you could put him to work! Anything to get him out from in front of the video games! Maybe you could find a good, slightly used mule for cheap?

I would gladly put him to work!

Great post.
I appreciate your post. thanks for sharing this video...

it is nice to see how you guys work..it encourages us too to work hard :)

I see you decide on a mobile home. Now you will be on your land to watch over all. Good move.

I am anxious to see the result! I hope the whole process is a success.

Haha! Yeah! It's really much easier to make a mess than clean it. True to life my friend :)

Giggling... BIG is such a relative term...@papa-pepper check out the post about our latest Mess!!

Feels good cleaning it up though. I just finished the pile from the house build site a couple of weeks ago!
Silly me to make another!

Sweet progress!! Its going to feel so good to be in your own home!

Sweet progress it is. There is no rose without thorn. It will get better. Can't wait to see yours too @borrowedearth.

Nice post @papa-pepper...... But it seems you are in a deforesting mood. Hahahaaaaaa.

R u doing well my friend...???

Your status already said it all, you have gat a lot work to do out there....

I have a fireplace here in Arizona and have never used it because back in Indiana we would end up with big stacks of wood like that so here it seems ridiculous if I was to buy wood.

are you considering getting a wood chipper on site to make some mulch out of all that wood? mulch is highly valuable for growing various crops, especially other trees. If you don't find one you could always get mulch from the local arborist

Already got a wood chipper! Thanks!

Wow that's a nice wall of firewood!

nice work, i think this work very hard, nice video making your project, keep it up, all the best, i like you always,
resteemed done

Seems like you have a heavy-duty day ahead of you! At least you'll have lots of firewood stored up for later use. It's on days like this that an extra pair of hands would come in handy.

Watch those chainsaws, they lull you into a false sense of security, then they kick like a mule, and try to bite your leg off.
Work smarter, work in shorter spells, and have plenty of breaks,
Strangely you will get more done that way

At least that Firewood store will last a while. Hopefully it doesn't rain for a while and you could make some covers for the pile.

I plan on putting some old metal roofing over the top of it.

That seems pretty cool!

My dad always said, “Wood will war, you many times over, before it warms you in the fireplace or woodstove.”

This is massive Papa. You have done really great. I can see you have cut them into sizeable form. The splitting might require more efforts but i really trust you will give it your all. What drives you Papa? What motivates you? I am always intrigued and in awe of how you make all these things look so effortless?
Yes, making a mess comes easier, and to build take time. Funny enough, i made a post about habits yesterday; bad habits are easy to pick up, good ones are hard to do. Sorry about the mess, but knowing you are capable of turning a broken strings into a fine tune, with God's help, i know you will do fine.

this is a very good job, you've collected so much firewood.
@papa-pepper, does the land as big as you have your own.

Clean up! Yeahh.. messy... This is really a hard work... If I am there, I am willing to help you I promise! Just give me a food to eat! Hehehe... Take care always...

I concur bro p. You keep amazing me with your script
