Nudism And The "P" Word

in #life6 years ago

While it may be “Pure” nudism, what exactly is the point?

When browsing the internet for nudist related things it doesn’t take long to stumble upon vast quantities of pornography. Porn sites claiming to be naturist related are ubiquitous.

Is this because nudism is pornographic?

No!

If anything it speaks to the fact that nudity is so taboo in much of the world that anything with naked people is titillating. If you happen to click on some of the sites you’ll quickly discover how boring nudists really are. Video after video of people sunbathing or playing in the surf get quite old. Nudism is about as arousing as a church potluck.

So what gives? How are these people making money? Well, they are making money because to much of the population any amount of skin is sexy. There are people who have been so sheltered from the human body that they get turned on by even the most boring of naked activity.

Now to certain sects of nudist culture there is nothing wrong with pornography. They argue that it is healthy and not at all concerning. I disagree. I think pornography is a plague on society. And unfortunately “nudist” videos are a gateway to worse forms of this plague.

See, it happens this way: kid grows up being told there is something shameful about their bodies or that bodies are inherently sexual and arousing. All nudity is filtered out of his (usually male) life. Kid is therefore curious about what the (usually female) body looks like. Kid finds out that the internet is a great place to satisfy this curiosity. Kid finds nudist videos. Since he has been told his entire life that naked bodies are arousing and has never seen one he of course becomes aroused. Eventually he discovers the truth that simple nudity is not really that sexy and moves on to more hardcore stuff. Maybe he gets out of it, maybe he doesn’t.

Porn is addictive. There are studies that show that it can effect the brain just the same as heroin. We should be doing everything we can to keep young people off of it.

My suggestion is to expose them young to real life non-sexual nudity. Reduce their curiosity about the human body. Keep them from discovering “nudism” as it is most often portrayed on the internet.

When we make nudity less taboo, we make it less titillating. When nudity is less titillating, pornography becomes less interesting. When pornography becomes less interesting, real sex gets better. When real sex gets better, relationships thrive.

Good relationships thrive on nudity.
