I've just seen "Black Panther" and have one takeway from the movie.

Killmonger is a bland villain.

Not bland as in lacking motivation, but bland because he had nothing that stood out about him. He was a former CIA Special Ops that uses his hatred towards the establishment to try and spark a revolution. This was already done numerous times, just because it has "current year" political commentary attached to it does not make it better. Although I could understand his rage, I felt that he was lacking in various ways:

For starters, he barely shows up in the movie and hardly interacts with any other characters, except for the final act. Then, he only talks about how angry he is and how he wants to assist his people; he's almost a broken record. And of course we have him just be an evil version of the main character for the final fight.

His character was just so bland and basic, I cannot understand why he's getting all this praise. Villains such Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy, Loki from Thor, and The Vulture from Spiderman; Homecoming were way more interesting, fleshed out and thus, fun to watch.

Seriously, Killmonger does not do anything but vomit his political beliefs every-time he's on screen. He coldly shoots his supposed girlfriend, He dismisses his father's ghost and when the ending comes he's still all like "I regret nothing!". He has no character or depth to him, he's a literal walking political statement.
