First thought that comes to mind for me, when trying to answer that would be school. 45 minutes to an hour, then switch subjects. Get home, ten minutes of a show, commercial break. Maybe it's just programmed into our brains to constantly switch. The natural flow of a conversation. Think of that as well. One doesn't just sit there and repeat themselves.
