Among the many laps that the world gives day after day you sneak our complaints about everything that happens in every corner of the world. Without being a secret to anyone, there are many things that could be done better or that simply should not be done. Our distress grows as we realize that we can not control what does not depend on us and among so many bad things we are also we, who want to change but, honestly, we have not.
We constantly see and hear about the thousands of ways in which we could make this world better from the personal, from the individual and so, inevitably, the world will change. At least from our point of view.
We have so many things that we want to do, we believe in so many things that could be true or not, but that, in our opinion, would make this whole disastrous world a better place, but what are we doing? The obsession with a perfect world has blinded us and in the end we are converted into what we so despise. It is contagious, we want to do things well, but we look around and it is so much the 'normality' of all those things that, inevitably, we also do them.
Throwing trash in the street seems disastrous, but at least once we have done it too. Advance when the traffic light is red; being late for work; to cheat in some exam, etc. They are those things that, although our morality despises them, at some point we also do it. When we have "need" we become those "bad citizens" that we criticize on other occasions. It seems so normal.
It seems normal to see garbage on the park floor. It seems normal to hear how a car accelerates when the traffic light changes to red. It seems normal to enter half an hour later to work. It seems normal to see students hiding to look at the book during the exam. When we "need" everything seems normal.
Change the world sounds very good and the truth is very simple, but it is not easy. Being a better person requires sacrifice. Morality and ethics do not work for us, we can not use it only when we want to presume to be "different". It is necessary to change our perception of the world, to make things different. It is difficult, yes. Friends will be lost, maybe. But, if what you really want is to be different, you need to commit to being different, although sometimes it hurts. A person does not change the world, but you will change your world.
