More Vegan Scones! And _another_ Vegan!

First day back at school and I'm already back in the kitchen baking scones.

I shouldn't sound like such a wet rag, because after all, these scones taste amazing! If you're new here, you're totally forgiven for being out of the loop. However, if you haven't checked out the scone recipe I regularly use (and credit The Vegan Lass), you're missing out. Find it here.

I'm making scones because one of our teacher's aides at school has found another job. He's been studying environmental science (very close to my heart) and was given a graduate position at the local steelworks. To celebrate his success (not his departure!) we are having a morning tea. Everyone usually brings in a plateful of goodies and I can't help but make scones.

They're not whole food plant based.

But they're totally naughty vegan suitable!

Before the magic.

After the magic.

The best part of eating vegan scones, is when you get to partake in said deliciousness with another vegan!

You heard me right! One of the kindy teachers at school told me out of the blue that she had watched a bunch of docos - including What the health and Cowspiracy and decided going vegan was a positive move in the right direction for her. Isn't it cool I have a vegan buddy at school now?

Considering the pile of muck working against us (all that history, conditioning and advertising), it's a bold move to announce you're vegan. In fact, just on Monday - the day she told me, another collegue made those comments.

"What? No meat?" [Imagine a shocked face in utter disbelief]

It's so silly because the person who made the comments has known I've been vegan for YEARS, and that I've been perfectly healthy this whole time. Someone new comes along and we all forget that eating meat, dairy and eggs is totally unnecessary. Brain ferrrrrt.

Something else cool? You ready for it?

My younger brother, Josh who has just started uni has been reading my Steemit articles. I've been linking to them on other social media platforms and he's been clicking on the links.

He is very interested in going vegan.

Josh was explaining to me that he already doesn't each much meat and was looking for some substitutes for dairy. Of course, my go-to is soy. I recommended it and he got back to me telling me how much more he likes it than dairy. Isn't that cool?

Josh is a scientist at heart so he is going to love all the nutritional evidence. Without evidence, our world reverts to witchcraft and catholicism [shake it off, bible bashers]. When I found Doctor Greger's website nutritionfacts.org, then saw his YouTube channel, I became a "Gregerian". It's hard to ignore his videos. Compelling and interesting. I'm hoping Josh gets as much from the evidence as I still do.

Where to from here?

We only live one day at a time, fellow Steemian and today I'm eating a scone with some strawberry jam (to ensure they are up to their usual quality of course!).

Tomorrow scones will be eaten by all!
