Life is tough.
Especially adult life.
A never ending to do list.
And when the kids arrive,
The list just gets longer.
I had two weeks holidays and should have been back to work today. I did accomplish a few jobs over those weeks but i also had a trip to America and a few other occasions to enjoy. Unfortunately we had a huge thunderstorm last night which knocked out power to a large area around us.
Worse again, it knocked out power to our creche which meant that i had to go and pick up the kids just an hour after dropping them off. I had barely settled into the days work when i got the call and had to scramble everything to walk out.
Not ideal after a two week break but it had to be done. My partner was in the offices and has a lot more on her plate for the week than i would in my diary.
After the weekend i was only looking forward to a bit of peace and some hard work instead of more family time. The break is good for my head.
Still, we do what we have to. I had a sandbox in the garage for a good few months and since today was a much nicer day decided to finally knock it off my to do list.
I thought it would be a quick job that only needed a few screws, but i was wrong.
I don't know why they make it so hard for us. A lot of this could have been pre assembled instead of in small pieces.
Luckily I had a couple of willing if not very capable helpers on hand.
It took a while but we did get there in the end. I could probably have finished a lot faster without the help but it kept everybody occupied for a while.
Plus the sun was out all day and we made the most of it. Everyone else is in bed now after the excitement so i can relax a bit now and do my own bits and pieces.

Sorry that the thunderstorm knocked out power
That is really good for the kids
You did well!
Good you are getting them into sand sculpting. What a great day for it. Surprised to hear you had a storm last night.
About four hours of thunder and lightening. Torrential rain and loss of power in the area. Worst one in a while.
They have to start somewhere. Sandcastles first and then full sized sculptures in the next few years.
Its been dry in Dublin for a good few days. It finally feels like summer.
