in #life7 years ago

Hello All Steemians

This time I want to share one of Aceh's rarely seen tradition, Toep Teupong (rice pounding into flour) using traditional *jingki * tools. I have not seen this activity for a long time. by chance when I visited yesterday's weekend one of my cousins, I see this tradition is still done in the neighborhood of Nisam, Aceh, Indonesia.

The tradition of toep teupong is a tradition in the Acehnese region of Indonesia, which is done before the celebration of the feast, marriage and others.

Toep teupong is the process of producing flour from rice by using jingki. Jingki is a traditional tool of Aceh that used for generations from ancient times until now. until now Aceh people in the countryside are still happy to use it. Because some people assume that self-processed flour, from rice harvest itself gives a sense of its own. This flour will be used as an ingredient to make a cake or food typical of Aceh.

Jingki works with the help of human labor. but not infrequently also, aceh people who grind flour using a machine. in the process of flouring using jingki, after the rice pounded with jingki, then dihayak or filtered with cloth, and then get a smooth flour.

Jingki in ancient times used not only to pound rice into flour, but also used to pound rice into rice, and pounded sago. there are so many benefits for the people of Aceh.
