THE ROAD TO POVERTY IS PAVED WITH EXCUSES, MISSED OPPORTUNITIES & REGRETS!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Dear Minnow,

Excuses! Excuses!! Excuses!!! Its one thing many love to say. Its the usual thing that follows when people don't do what is right or what is expected of them.

SO they try to justify their actions with an excuse. This makes them feel so much better. See this little convo many have with their minds here when they fail an exam. Their mind will be like;

  • Mind: Dude so you just came for an exam without reading...
  • YOU: I was sick for 1 week now so...
  • Mind: That's right. I almost forgot that. But Hollup! What about the whole semester? Why didn't you read?
  • YOU: Errrm. (scratches head). I had this other project to do, parties to attend, girlfriends to maintain...
  • Mind: Yeah! I enjoyed those parties brov. Let's do that again...Don't worry I won't bug you again with questions of failure. Its their fault, they failed you.
  • YOU: Its definitely their fault. I know I'm a very smart guy. Let's go party some more.

LIGHTS OUT!!

AFter this scenario in your mind, you become happy. Hmm you have finally convinced your mind that it deserves the excuse you have given it. Good for you!

No! Very very bad for you. You know why? When you continue making up excuses, your mind enters into the laziness mode and even begins to help you generate the excuses by default. That means you are gonna live a life of no acheivements because there will always be 1001 reasons why good things cannot be done.

The Elder Sister of excuses is blames. Infact excuses eventually turn out to become a blame-game. Accusing fingers must be pointed ...and its never on them. Many people are like the man Jesus talked about in the Bible who never removes the log from his eyes but always sees specks in other's eyes.

Poor People Are Always Full Of Excuses, Missed Opportunities & Regrets

Go ask people why they are poor and you will hear multitude of excuses. Many will blame the government. Many will blame their village people. Many will blame the neighbours, bosses, friends, family, spouse, children etcz. Only very few persons (less than 1%) will blame themselves.

Even this 1% will be full of regrets. The regrets are not for the mistakes they made. No! Its actually for the mistakes they never made. The risks they never took. The places they never went. The things they never did.

Just like now people are being told to invest in cryptocurrencies and they joke with the idea. In a few years from now, only those who had invested will be smiling while the rest will just be regretting. Oh! Why didn't I join steemit when @NairaDaddy told me about it?

Which one do you wanna be guys? The one who keeps making up excuses or the one who actually gets things done and succeeds?

I have already made my decision to succeed. What of you?

Thanks for reading. Cheers!

so very apt. You have put it so wonderfully. those who are lazy will never make it big in life.

Thanks to @sayee, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.

Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!

the moment you allow excuse in your mind , that is when you fail to move forward, we have to learn be consistent and never allow an excuse to side track you from the goal and when you fail to make the cut replan and start again , dont find a reason to blame

I want to be among those who get things done.

Thanks for sharing, I unfortunately fall in this category. Buh thanks all the same. Will take it to heart and make improvements

this is really a great piece containing the truth , we should learn to be prepared as the boys scout says , sometime opportunities comes once in lifeand some persons end up missing it and backing themselves up with silly excuses.
i want to do it when its right , i hate regrets and blames

Hmmmm this words are so strong and gat me thinking, some blame poverty on their village witches without realizing what they didn't do right. I want to be among does that do things right but it not just by saying it but I hope and try the right part is all I seek. Thanks for sharing this.

I want to be amongst the people that get things done.
Thanks for the inspiring post.

This is absolutely true. All we do is pass the bulk of the blame to others and accuse them of what we failed at. It is easy to give excuses and point fingers than go the hard road of looking ourselves in the mirror and take responsibility. No one has that controlling effect to control our lives than us. We should take charge. Humility is accepting you are wrong and stepping on the road to recovery. Thank you for this timely reminder. Conscious and deliberate steps it is!

Truly blame is the elder sister to excuse, we always need to be positive in life and not always giving excuses for what we do, that will hinder our improvement and success in life. Thanks for sharing, I also like the example you use about the mind and why it failed exam, trying to justify matters, it is really fitting. Thanks alot.

Very wonderful piece @nairadaddy. The dangers of making excuses should be hammered upon because most of us bury our potentials under the excuses that we make but the truth remains that actions express priorities and when we really want something we try as much as we can to expel excuses.

I like the conversation of the mind you did in your post. It's just so true. This reminds me of when that's the loudest voice in my mind. But I've stopped feeding that dude sorry I hardly hear him talk again.
I feed the part of my mind that says no to excuse Now.
