Iceskating in Rotterdam!

in #life7 years ago

Hi everyone,

As many might know, skating is a popular sport in the Netherlands. Many Dutch people skate from young to old age. Unfortunately, the winters become less cold and ice skating on natural ice is no longer as often possible. Fortunately, we have the indoor skating rinks!

Today I went skating in Rotterdam with my father! It is now the 5th year in a row that this pop-up skating rink is located in Rotterdam. There are two indoor courses where you can skate for three months, from the 1st of december until 28th of february. On the indoor 400-meter track with official ISU dimensions, young talents, skating clubs, sporty holidaymakers and competition skaters can go. The indoor 800m2 funbaan is suitable for novice skaters, figure skates, ice hockey and curling. Every year more than 175,000 visitors come.

My father and I have tied our skates and went on the 400 meter track. It was fun! We were lucky that it was quiet.

Here a video to give you an impression!

After 20 laps our feet were tired and it was time for Koek en zopie! Koek en zopie is a term used for the food and drinks that are sold at the skate rink during skating periods. We enjoyed our hot chocolate;)

It was a super fun morning, worth repeating!
