"Traditionally, kids leave out snacks for Santa. What are the 2 typical snacks?"

Milk and cookies are left there for Santa to enjoy. These two snacks add to the Jolliness of Saint Nick. It creates a rich tone to his "Ho, ho, ho." Yet it is dad who really eats the cookies.
