Who's dog is that?

in #life15 hours ago

It's 3am, I'm on my fifth dream at this point, and all of the sudden my wife begins calling me from outside the house. We live in a farm, so the possibility of something happening is always there. I leap onto my feet and walk outside shirtless, ready to see what's happening.

Look, she says... Isn't he beautiful?

Wait, I said... Who's dog is that?

Nobody, she replied... It's a street dog, he's the one that has been flipping over our trash cans, I finally got to see who it was.

Oh crap...

Lovingly of course, I informed my wife that I appreciate a cute dog, but it's three in the morning and I need to get some sleep. I don't function well without at least 6 hours.

The next day it's all a bit of a blur to me. Did I really get woken up to look at a dog? Yes, yes I did. He was cute and all, needed some TLC, no doubt, but had a kind soul without a doubt.

After that day we didn't see the dog for a month...

The Bat signal

So our neighbor has a female dog that never leaves the house. For some reason she still has her heats, even though she's been spade. Something seems off to me, but I'm simply repeating what they told me.

This mean that hormonic bat signal was ignited, and thus many pups began showing up. Among those, the huskie mix.

Look, my wife said, He's back... I think I'm going to call him whisper. He's so quiet, doesn't bark, and he's gentle. Yes, his name is whisper.

Whisper? I said to myself, he's more like batman, but Ok. I don't know if calling a dog Batman would be fitting, but I'm tempted to do so.

After the time passed

Whisper decided to stick around. He would just be close to us, being friendly to our doggies and to everyone that would approach, as if he knows this place is a good place to be.

What was I going to do? Not feed the kind soul?

My wife and I bought medicine, and began feeding whisper, attempting to fatten him up a little bit. His ribs needed to go back into hiding.

Oh no...

We have a tiny dog we named Luna that is the apple of my eye. She is a tiny creature that has given me so much joy, it's hard to describe in simple words.

And Luna, my little princess, likes Whisper too.

I guess we have another dog now

We took him to the vet yesterday, and even though our finances are really tight, we decided to keep Whisper and work on his health.

Street dogs always deal with issues, such is the rough life they've had to endure, and Whisper the brave little soul that stumbled onto our farm has been dealing with heartworm.

Can we afford this? Of course not, not with our current income. I've resigned myself to sell some of the coins I've been holding in wait of the bull, but we can't just let a kind soul die out of neglect, out of indifference.

The things we do for love...

A 3 Hive tip to pay for one piece of kibble :)

Many years ago a cat appeared in my front shrubs. My heart melted. I opened a can of tuna. Word got around. They started coming, those cats that liked tuna. We moved to a new house. It's been maybe twenty years. The first round of tuna cats (of course, we transitioned to cat food) died off and two cats, one of them quite new, remain. My kids make the trip every day to feed those two cats. My former neighbor helps. She let us move the cat shelter to her property (right next door). One of the cats lives there, with an electrically heated pad to keep him alive during winter.

So...Whisper will cost you, and will repay you😇. Good luck with your new dog.

you are too kind!

May your kindness only bring you blessings.

Thanks!
