Thank you for your response. I appreciate that you acknowledge you made a mistake.
Please understand this: Steemit is exclusively for creating original content. This is what you get paid for. If you want to promote other people’s work like online articles, news letters, or YouTube videos, there are other platforms to do this, for instance, Twitter or Tumblr.
It is true that on these platforms, you do not directly make money with your posts, but if it is really your only intention to inform other users, as you say, this should be no problem for you.
To show that you understood these rules, and to minimize the damage you have done, please:
- Edit your post, delete the picture you have used without permission, include a link to your sources, and state that you are not the original author. In order to comply with international copyright law, you must also delete the text you have used without permission.
- Remove your own upvote from your post and instead flag your post (with 100% voting power) to minimize your monetization.
Note that from a legal point of view, even if you state all your sources, if you copy/paste content without consent of the original author, you may still be committing an international copyright infringement.
Concerning your comment:
- If you “receive an e-mail with that content”, that e-mail was written by another author. If you copy/paste the content of that e-mail without getting permission to do so, yes, you are stealing it. International copyright does not differentiate based on the type of medium or the length of a text. The Steemit community sees this in the same way.
If you continue to post copy/pasted content, I and other users will report you to steemcleaners again, and will flag you, even if you state your sources in your posts.
It does not matter if you excuse or “explain” your behavior. You must correct your error, and never do it again.
hi.please deactivate my account.thanks.
Thank you. I noticed you have deleted the content in question. You have done the right thing! 👍
I will keep an eye on your account, though. If you start to use Steemit again to republish the work of others, I will report you again.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you are unsure what kind of content is accepted on Steemit and what isn’t. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Steemit is a friendly community. You can also ask the guys at steemcleaners. They have a chat server on Discord.
P.S. You can even make money by reporting “bad” posts to steemcleaners yourself! Currently you can make about $1 per report IF you can show where a post was copied from (the original website). Learn more here
