RE: Wagner's Wardrobe

Yes indeed, you cannot get good people any more! The last bunch of people we have hired for various things have either been shit or entirely unreliable.

He is totally fired and gone. I am happy expecting a cheeky bill for his days work but if he dares that I will tell him where to go. The work was atrocious!!

I have stripped paper that has been glued on before. Apart from it being a nightmare you just can't get over why!? Why do people do such things?

I am still staggered that he thought it was cool to not move a bit of furniture!

Sort:

I have another house that is 1869 Victorian that is livable, but a project at the same time. So this house needs no work and the other needs all the work! :)

Good people are impossible to find in the trades. Crap work! Every single time. But, I have found a way to get decent work done. I used to get people who knew people, people who advertised, or handyman types. No longer.

The shoddy workmanship is unbearable. A ten-year-old can do better than some of the work I have seen done. Some days a toddler might be able to pull it off.

I started using real companies that have been around for ages with great reputations. A little more sometimes, but, not always. I had the roof redone and the cost was much the same as these deals the internet is offering up. The workmanship has been better and I have been happier. I like doing things that I am capable of, but, honestly, I have earned the right to let someone else do it without guilt. You have to, get over it. I couldn't stand watching them BS around and expect pay.

I am not sure why people glue wallpaper, but, it has a lot to do with never intending on stripping it, so what the heck.

At dinner last night, I read the tale of not moving the wardrobe (yes people! there is such a piece as a wardrobe!) and I thought they would fall off their chairs. Each one knew that I was comparing it to the floor not being stained/finished in the new color.

Oh, you put a nickel in my machine, and now I just cannot stop. Sorry. Not sorry. Hope you are having a splendid weekend!

I wouldn't pay him either. I would send him a tissue to wipe his backside and that is all he would get.

1869 Victorian. I bet that will be a topper when it is done!

I used a will known company for a big roof repair I had done. I had to as they offered a guarantee and seemed much more legit to think of something went wrong that you would get something back.

They did actually come out a year later to fix something that went wrong too!

A nickel in your machine.. haha, that's a fab saying!!

EXACTLY! That right there!

I did the roof on the Victorian and went with a good roofer and the warranty too. On work like that, I just won't compromise anymore. Get it done once and you won't have to keep doing it again and again.

Can you tell I am so OVER tradespeople????

I am over them too, they are so often shysters these days.

It is funny though, when you get a good one that you absolutely fasten on to them and almost cry when they can't do the work for whatever reason!
