We all have to innovate! As for the brakes, maybe you could just duct tape loads of packing foam to the front bumper, and reinforce the windshield?

I was thinking of just spraying loads of that foam stuff you put in punctured tyres over myself and the passengers when everyone gets in for a journey ;OD
