I have a confession to make: I am a huge shoe enthusiast. And I'm especially enthusiastic about sneakers and futuristic design. And especially since I watched the "Abstract" episode about shoe designer Tinker Hatfield design is something I'm just more than interested in. It is basically art. It is a way to express oneself.
Introducing the Adidas Y-3 Runner 4D
I'm not going to give you some marketing mumbo jumbo about the sole or how great it is to wear the shoe. You can read about that in way more qualified words and pictures elsewhere. But I want to use this post to express my admiration for the design work.
This shoe is slick, clean and - most importantly for myself - very simple. Simplicity is the most important aspect of design in my opinion. Design should always accompany the function and ideally elevate it. It should never get into its way or "hide" the function behind a beautiful facade.
Unfortunately these shoes go for about $500 bucks. And for that price I wouldn't even dare to wear them for a walk or even to work. So I keep admiring them. From a distance.
