My first month in Steemit was lackluster. I had no idea what to do. The first group I was in was of no help and I made all the major blunders of resteeming everything, following everyone and even votebegging. So I have to work harder and faster now.
I skipped over 600 because I was tied up with several major posts and initiatives that I am running but upon reaching 756 I had to reflect on some of the things that I have done and what I want to do in the next few months.
I am still very faraway from my target of 1000 SP of my own but will be continuing to renew my delegation with @blocktrades to continue to be able to upvote more good quality content and support our ever growing Ohana @steemitfamilyph. I will be powering up as much as I can as well to get me there.
In 114 days I have made 125 posts and averaging 22 votes per post. What amused me though is I have made 2734 comments. I average about 11-14 comments a day and I have been trying to get this up to 20-25 comments a day. I am nowhere near the Engagement Goddess @goldendawne but I'll get there eventually haha.
I wanted to look over my voting pattern and I saw I am self voting at 7.6%. I have not come to that level yet that I am confident that my posts will do well so in my bid to get enough power I still upvote myself once a day. I usually just create one post a day and the rest are given to people that I engage with.
In fact 92.4 percent of my votes go to other people and the biggest for now is the votes that i give to @steemitfamilyph in order to help it grow stronger. Most of us gave delegation to in order for it to have a heftier upvote value to those that are featured as having good content. We want to reward people that we are mentoring to create unique and good content posts.
Ohana
Two months ago if you asked me that this what we expected it to be I would have laughed at your face and told you its crazy. I think none of us ever thought it would blow up like this. Yet I can't help but feel proud when I look at this strange assortment of people from all walks of life, of different regions and of different talents and come together and be an Ohana.
So as more people join the Ohana we will continue to power up the main account @steemitfamilyph , exert more effort to educate and guide them to be good members of the community that enrich the content and interaction they have with their fellow.
Give them confidence to be able to swim out and join other communities, other niche groups but always make them feel welcome when they swim back home. They will always have an Ohana with us. I'm pretty happy to see several already doing that and getting involved in their own projects and heading their own communities.
Mentor and guide them to the best of our abilities in order for their works to be curated by the major guilds and provide them the exposure that they need to succeed. My intent is to see all of them get that curation and I know it will give them the spark to shine. We've had a couple of people curated already on their first month and so I know everyone is doing a great job.
Gift in Kind
I am not even out of plankton stage yet I am already embarking on a major project. I know I don't have clout nor any major backers at this point but what I am banking on is the Gifteconomy mentality of Steem.
These children and community of indigenous Aetas need our help. They are allocated next to nothing in budget from the government even though they are a protected tribe. In a matter of sensibilities they don't contribute much in terms of taxes. I am afraid they are in the bottom of the list to be helped. So their choice is to till an arid soil and for the occasional NGO to give them aid.
It broke our hearts when we learned of their plight a couple of years ago and that is why we have decided to adopt the school. I believe that Steem will be able to be a major contributor of the betterment of their lives and I want to see them sharing their culture, their songs, their beliefs and traditions. In a way this is for us to be able to save these because they are fast disappearing.
This is true to most indigenous people. As modern times and technology is fast encroaching, they lose semblance of who they are. Children no longer know the songs of their ancestors, stories they should know are replaced by movies and tv shows, the culture they have replaced by what they think is civilized.
So by having a Steemit presence they would be able to change their lives and have opportunities but also keep their culture intact.
I have already created a separate account for Gift in Kind so that it will be separate from my account and I will not be though of just using it to further my own account as some people that I have seen.
Promo-Mentors
The first 30 days of a Steemian is very critical. They are like blind mice newly born. A lot of us has stumbled and made major mistakes and I am glad that the @promo-mentors has been created. It's goal is to mentor and guide new Steemians who have great potential.
Give them feedback sessions, positive critiques that would help them especially in formatting and markdowns, then also give that extra boost of confidence with some upvotes. Nothing breaks the will of a new person faster than seeing everyday that they have zero votes. In this way they are encouraged to keep on posting, getting better and better and having a great support system. I'm glad to be part of this initiative.
Financial Freedom
Three months ago when I got to know @ankarlie one of the major projects we really wanted to do was to provide Filipinos with an alternative way of earning. I have been a recruiter for some of the online companies and its not easy to get work in Upwork, Thumbtack and Fiverr. The screening process is hard. Your resume is mercilessly scrutinized and any gaps are red marks. Then there is the haggling of rates with each party trying to get the best deal for themselves.
We have tried everything like lending platforms, CAPTCHA programs, ICOs and even Onpals (Online Paluwagan) a sort of an entry-exit strategy of MLM. There is a certain risk with most programs and CAPTCHA pay in literal drips out of a faucet.
When we discovered Steemit it was like Manna from Heaven. This was a good way for a lot of talented people to be creative and be rewarded for it. Yet also the untalented flourished because everyone has a
story to tell, everyone has something to offer.
This is one of the reasons why I am supporting @steemfreelancers It is my desire to connect the Filipino people to this platform and help them look for a gig that will pay them for services, products or anything.
I am also part of Crypto Empire headed by the charismatic @spiritualmax who is teaching us the best way to be successful in Steemit. His words and advice are eye openers and you find yourself humbled because you think that your hot stuff lately but its not even half of what can be done if properly mentored.
I am very thankful that I have been invited and a part of the empire that will flourish in Steem.
Steem is the future and we have a lot of things and plans to do. So let us embark to this journey of realizing the GIFTECONOMY I am ready.
Thank you for the mention!
And you know... the Engagement Goddess is such a compliment! I love reading your posts and comments!
20-25 comments per day is not unrealistic at all.
Like you, the first month on steemit I was floundering... but I soon found my groove and rhythm and have been just going for it all ever since!
Love the @promo-mentors! I am a mentor in the homesteading and gardening community plus I have been working with @davemccoy and his #newbieresteem day initiative; where he sets up a weekly post called #deardawne and new steemians can ask me questions and I try my best to answer and guide them.
Looking forward to your 20th comment in one day... coming soon!
OMG the Engagement Goddess graces my post! I'm so happy. I just saw the new stats from @abh12345 and everyone in SOG is just killing it with kindness and support!
Ever since seeing those I have aspired in my own little way to connect and spread the love more and both @promo-mentors and @steemitfamilyph is helping me find great people that needs our support. The first month is critical and we have lost a great number of potentials that quit because they could not feel they belong.
This is why I love what you folks are doing in Stewards of Gondor. One upvote, one comment at a time you make a difference.
I agree, the first month's retention rate may be a little low. SO many feel intimidated, lost and eventually get frustrated so they leave. I am doing my best to keep those who are here and to gather the new incoming and envelop them with guidance, support and suggestions; hence why I am enjoying @davemccoy's initiative. The things I am finding to be hurting these new steemians are basic and once they get some positive words, reinforcements and ideas, they are getting more comfortable.
oh wow..... congratulations.
i am little bit behind you in age sector. and a very far away from the others.
you are a true gainer.
and i think 2018 is the year for progressing the minnow members like us.
I started really slow as well and was lucky to find a great group like @steemitfamilyph who helped me focus and set me to help more people.
I agree 2018 will be a great year for Steem and for us minnows to grow stronger.
Exactly...... :)
It's getting COLD in here! Let's turn up the STEEMIT love & HEAT! Your post has been chosen to receive some January (Into February) THAWing! Please accept this special surprise on behalf of @goldendawne, the Stewards Of Gondor and @fulltimegeek's delegation! Please check your wallet for a HOT tip!
Omg thank you Engagement Goddess for this gift that I received!
I shrieked when I saw it!
It will be of much use and will bring me a step closer to my SP goal!
I do love this post! It inspired me to strive more. Not so I could shoot up my account but to take the process in helping our team. A newbie like me. I wish I could shower all my recruits with asnwers tk their questions but I am also in the learning path of this Steemit platform. Readind all informative posts and connecting with possible people who has good intent to help us the newbies. I commend you with your works and I see how genuine you are in spreading help. I also commend @ankarlie for her guidance and help. Again thank you for allowing us to get on board with the #steemitfamilyph! Have a great day!
Thanks Wilson. It is always a pleasure for me to help other people. I do not to it for fame nor to have influence. I want to see other people succeed.
@ankarlie is indeed a very special person who has the abundance gene and always willing to help out. This is why two whales are closely looking after her.
Hello Friend!
I haven't checked out these communities but I know they've got a great guy like you! I'm so proud of your milestones and your creative work. You've come far, far away. Hope to catch up with you soon. ^^
Thanks Friend and I am so happy we are in Max's group and I know we will both become stronger and better because of what we learn from him. This past week has been a great eye opener although I still laugh so hard with Luna's hobbies.
I'm really thankful that you invited me there.
I'm super happy as well and enjoying every minute of it. ^^
2734 comments! 😱 Congrats on all ur milestones sir Mav. Would love to engage more but my bandwidth does not allow me, for now. Hopefully I'll also reach the point when I can delegate some of my SP to our Ohana. :)
Stay strong as a a steemian and as a mentor to so many planktons. 💪👏
Ahahha I was suprised as well that I got so many!
You are talenteded you'll get there soon enough!
Thanks for being part of the Ohana!
That's so true. There seemed to be so much to learn and take in, all at once. Thanks for sharing about your early days here. It's nice to know we've all been in the same situation.
And, yes, it's great to be in the Crypto Empire. Great mentoring and advice.
Cheers
Anj x
Indeed we could not be all be monsters like Mx who rose so quickly it's unbelievable!
I'm glad im there as well .
I just ran into this #steemitfamilyph today. Had no idea we had something like this in steemit. Nice meering you. Am from the PH as well. Thats very nice of you to have given much of your upvotes to others. Glad to know that your delegation is in good hands and I trust that people who follow you and the family is aware of that as well.
Hope to see you around here.
I found that by giving more, I receive a lot in return :) I like to pay-it-forward and help a lot of the new Steemians find success here and by guiding and mentoring them.

I know, Haha. Sometimes, I dont have any idea what to post but then it's like a bright idea popping up in my mind, like right now, no idea. lol
Congrats!:)
Thank you !
This is so true, Steemit can provide a decent amount of earnings that can be use for daily survival. It is also essential that we're interacting with the others to strengthen our circle of friends.
Giving them help as much as how the others help us. God see those who have good hearts and reward them more than they can imagine. :)
Thanks Pam :) yeah its true by us interacting with other people and sharing yourself that you can more.
Grabe ang lupit nito sir. Mabilis ka po natuto, sipag lang talaga e. Congrats sir!
ahaha medyo mabagal first month ko. If I knew half of the things I know now I would have climbed faster.
you are doing so well here on steemit sir! amazing! nakaka inspire!
Thanks Dee :) People inspire me more and it has been wonderful. Maybe not a lot of people know how bad I was suffering from depression last year but being in Steemit really helped me out and got me out of my shell.
So in my own little way I am trying to help everyone I can and if I inspire someone who experienced the same thing and they get a little bit better then I am happy for it.
This is nice, sir! Good thing I found you here. Hahahaha.
Ahahha wow amazing you found me lol
Wow, this is really inspiring. It's just my 5th day and I'm looking forward to writing a lot of content. Keep steeming, Sir and I'll be watching out for more of you. :)
Wow 5th day and you have written so much content hahaha Keep Steeming and be yourself. Steemit is a place for you to be unique.
Thank you @maverickinvictus. See you around! :)
I love the info drop and mentioning mentors and groups we can check out. I'm in the floundering stage even though I've been here since last year. The links and information in your post will help tremendously, thank you! 👍
We started the same time with a couple of groups and I was somehow lucky to have found a couple of individuals that shared the same Ideals I had.
I've joined and left a lot until I found the right one and if you have any questions I am always ready to help out.
Wow!! i was so amazed @maverickinvictus for that great compliment, more power and support godbless😊
Thanks and I wish to see you grow as well!
Thank you and i will be working hard to grow more and thanks for your unending support
Many people are also grateful for your support to us here on Steemit. :)

Congratulations on reaching the milestone @maverickinvictus. Way to go. All your hard work is paying off and it's nice to see your community building act through @steemitfamilyph.
My wishes for you to achieve more success and strength to help even more people.
Thank you so much for the compliment! Coming from someone like you is indeed an achievement!
I wouldn't have thought it would be possible to do something like this if not for the community we are building!
I am very proud of what everyone has done.
Magaling ka kasing mentor, mabait, generous and very supportive kaya mas dadami pa lalo ang mag upvote and mag patronize sa iyong mga posts hindi lng dahil sa binabalik nila yong nagawa mo sa kanila kundi dahil you are also an inspiration you shared us your ideas kaya patuloy pa rin kami at hindi sumusuko dito..
Thank you and I want to see people do well and have confidence in themselves
