πŸ’Š A Steemit Addiction May Be as Hard to Kick as Drugs πŸ’‰

in #life β€’ 8 years ago (edited)

Yes, I'm getting addicted to Steemit and I'm not affright to say it! The only problem is that it might just be as hard as to kick drugs like Cocaine! But hey, why kick it!?!?

A micrograph of cocaine crystals, taken trough my microscope a few weeks ago.

I think most of the Steemians got more and more addicted in the last weeks, and many of us may make light of it. But be aware! Cause medical professionals are saying that an "internet addiction" (or so to say in our case a Steemit addiction) is associated with increased depression and even drug-like withdrawal symptoms.

Yes, Steemit brought some great awesome innovative crazy Ideas, and is 10000X more fun (even without payouts) then Reddit of Facebook, its something new and different, you feel like a pioneer, there is some great content and content creators. And yes! It pays! And that all together makes it ... Addictive!

But don't let Steemit control your life or get the bad of you, Since I think we all in some way share the experience of that voice in our head saying;

"Lets make another post, and hope this one is making me rich"
"why is he or she getting way more for the same idea"
"Wow how can so little effort give so much money"

It can be depressing, not? Cause I think some of us are loosing sight of the bigger picture and mainly focus on the $ sign!

So please fellow steemians, please take care of yourself! Even tho Steemit is not a drugs and maybe not as bad as Cocaine, it sure is something to watch-out for! Happy Steeming!

Great comparison. I find Steemit to be very addictive, even wrote about it in my first post, https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@sjt10369/i-m-a-steemolic .
Even on vacation I've caught myself checking the site several times a day just to see what is happening. The concept of adding sub-games as mentioned by others would be very powerful and just add to the addictive habit that Steemit is becoming for so many.

I hear you man. Social networks are addictive anyway and then... add a little gambling and gamification. That's really what this is in a way, a game based on gambling - laying bets and reaping rewards... which looks like a social network.
I love it... but that's what it seems like to me.

Yes, but addiction exists only with 'issues' in the brain. :) Check out emofree.com for getting rid of emotional baggage. Once the issues being satiated by the addiction is gone, the addiction (unless it's physical drug addiction) goes away. :)

That is a great piece of information!!!!

A good clarification of thoughts!

Thanks. It's going to get crazy when they start adding sub-games though. Imagine the games on Facebook developed into Steemit where people can earn real money for winning. Forget tokens... that would be crazy addictive.

Wow, I did not even think about that! Sub-games, especially if you go to Asian country's where sub games are added in almost every major social media app. Triggering you to play with your friends "all day long" spending tokens to get to the next level! Wow, don't pay for playing or extra content, get payed for playing! The world is going upside down crazy!

I know. Whole generations will be lost in the Steemtrix <-- I just coined that for all time by the way.

its true social networks are addictive but i think that steemit is more than that

This feels better then when I was addicted to Facebook and Twitter and Instagram

this is fucking cool

To start from zero, you need to crawl up to it.

Oh the withdrawal is bad though....

Good advice! And yes it can be addicting thinking about all the interesting content you could be missing or coming up with a post in your mind while you should focus elsewhere.

Thanks, yes FOMO is a big thing. FOMO for the content you mis, FOMO for the money you could have made, FOMO you did not be on steemit today to curate or post. FOMO......

Great post @mauricemikkers !

You are not alone :D

Thank you, together we stand strong maybe we should start a Steemit Anonymous (SA) 😱

It caught me! So it is! ;)

Too new and too little writing to have attempted to make any money... Still addicted though... I should be getting stuff done right now... But no... I am reading this and everyone else stuff... LMAO!!!

You can getting addicted to anything. Nothing is comparable to the physical withdrawal from drugs though. That kills..

Addiction overload. Guilty as charged :)

BTW I created a post to motivate steemers who are feeling low https://steemit.com/motivational/@dev/feeling-a-bit-frustrated-i-think-you-are-a-dark-knight-here-is-how-i-prove-it
