a few years ago, here in SoCal (NorCal is best for gold panning)...
a man in Santa Clarita was told by his doctor he needed to go out and get active.
His health required it, ANY kind of activity, just go outside and get off the couch!
So he did.
He got a metal detector and began scanning the arroyo near his neighborhood.
To his surprise he found a massive gold 'nugget'. Nearly a half kilogram worth.
I think they said it was worth something like $ 15,000 or so. It was huge.
I remember them saying it may be a record for the area.
Can't find a link to it now but I found this !!! from just a few days ago - $70,000 nugget~!~!
