M. Mirzakhani was a persian mathematician who was awarded the Fields Medal.
She started her career 1995 by joining the International Math Olympiad. 1999 she finished her bachelor at Sharif-University and moved to Boston were she continued her adducation at the Havard University. She received her doctorate in 2004 on the subject "Simple Geodesics on Hyperbolic Surfaces and Volume of the Moduli Space of Curves".
M. Mirzakhani became Research Fellow of Clay Mathematics Institute and also Assistant Professor of Princeton University until 2008.
Her whole life changed from this day on. She received the Blumenthal Award in 2009, the Ruth Lyttle Satter Prize in Mathematics in 2013, the Clay Research Award for significant contributions to geometry and ergod theory. In 2014 she became a respected scientist in Seoul.
In August 2014 M. Mirzakhani received the Fields Medal as the first world wide known persian woman.
The doctors diagnosed breast cancer in 2013 that took her life on 15. July 2017.
