Always, in each instance of our lives, we are constantly in conversation with ourselves, thinking about life, objectives, goals, etc. In this conversation we analyze ourselves, in such a way we evaluate if we have the abilities and capacities that are necessary to confront a determinate situation, if the feedback is positive we will have the conviction that everything will be fine, but if it isn’t, we will feel emotional frustration and we will close up the possibilities.
The consequences of thinking irrationally can be catastrophic, for example, if you are coming out a relationship, a bad conversation with yourself could be that you think nobody will love you again and, therefore, you deserve to be alone. We have to learn to recognize that some events in our lives are transient and that we have to survive them, we have to change the way we feel and think about these events that occur in our lives.
Fortunately, exists four abilities that will help you to think as a positive person. They are:
1) Recognize the thoughts
Recognize the thoughts that appear in moments of pain, sadness, anxiety or anger: in these cases, it is when our mind is full of the worst negative thoughts. We are looking for guilty, we feel that we are not worthy, that we are not useful and that bad situations happen to us because we deserve them. We have to be conscious and recognize these thoughts highly self-destructives as fast as they come to our mind.

2) Evaluate the thoughts
You can think many things, but these things are not necessarily true, many impulsive thoughts are the result of the moment and nothing more. Before making conclusions, it is necessary to think with a cold mind, in this way you can evaluate the situation and thus avoid believing in something bad about yourself. Take it easy.
3) Go against negative thoughts
After recognizing negative thoughts and evaluating them, some negative thoughts will probably persist, challenge yourself and show that you can discard those conclusions through the experience and knowledge of other people. You can do many things, but first you must convince yourself that you can achieve them and many times a helping hand can give you a little push.

4) Look for options
This part is very important, consist in that you don't have to be dramatic and absurdly exaggerate your personal misfortunes. It's not necessary to go around telling everyone that your life is miserable, that's not right. We must maintain the composure and look for alternatives that help us survive the penalties.

These are some skills that you can develop to start generating positive thoughts. As you can see, the first step is to try to avoid and discard negative thoughts, cleanse your mind and train it properly. Once the terrain is cleared the positive thoughts will come little by little to flood our mind and the benefits won't be long in coming.
