Hello dear steemians, today I want to tell you how I end up studying Mechanical Engineering. A message that I want to give with this is, why it is important to inform yourself before studying something as a career.
The History
First of all, when I was younger, I am talking when I was approximately 18 years old, if I remember well, I didn’t have a clear thinking on what I wanted to be. In my last year in high school I choose the Mechanical Engineering just as my first option along with other two alternatives as something to presume to my friends. For your information the other two options were Physics (my craziest option) and Civil Engineering.
On the same year I was going to graduate, I presented the admission tests of three universities, two that I knew were the best for learning about those careers in my country, in that time, and one that was just in case I didn’t make it in neither of the other two, the bad part of this one it was they didn’t teach Mechanical Engineering; they were the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), Universidad Simon Bolivar (USB) and Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB). I did a great effort studying for those admission test for months, I felt like I didn’t studied so much before in my life, and you know what happen… I didn’t make it. I didn’t get in neither of the two I wanted and ended so disappointed that I didn’t wanted to accept the admission on the UCAB, so I took a “year of vacation” that’s right a year, I didn’t want to know anything about studies of any kind and my parents let me do it because they understood my disappointment.
I can resume you that year pretty fast, videogames, television and some occasional visits to the mall, nothing more as far I can remember. At first it was awesome, but in the final months of that vacation I got pretty bored, so I began to study (the irony slap my face) for the upcoming exams, I was going to try once more to get in the universities, something amazing was that I still remembered some things of my studies from a year back. The day came for the exam in the USB, I presented the three hour test (yeah three hours), went to home and took a nap.
While I was waiting for the UCV’s test I got an email from that university. Apparently I were accepted in the introductory program for this university thanks to the admission test I took a year back, I was like Whaaat!!! Because it was something I never expected, so I decided to wait the results from the USB test and see if I made it, again I couldn’t made it, with this I went safe and took the introductory program in the UCV. It was six months to pass it and I did it, so the next semester I began to study the career I wanted most.
Sadly I couldn’t continue my studies in that university for security problems, my parents asked me to leave that university. I was sad but I understood their complaints and then I leave it on 2015. But it wasn’t too long for me to study once more this career in another university in 2016, I had to take another admission test but at that point it wasn’t too difficult to be honest. I were accepted in my first try when I was 21 and I have been studying in there for more than 2 years, now I am 24 and when I look back at what I did to be here I can say I am glad that I insist so much to study this career, even though I just investigated a little bit about it when I was in high school.
An Extra
Something I want leave to the youngest people who read this, don’t think the studies are lame, boring or bad, they are sometimes complicated indeed, but that’s because you are learning from them, and the learning process is complicated. Something that I learn a long time ago is, if I don’t understand something is because I don’t know enough about it. As well, I learned that study can help you to become a better person, because you will learn a lot about what you can do or learn to do thinks that you never thought you were able to do, so you can help a lot of people in many ways. Try to investigate a little about things that interest you or catch your attention, is better to be inform about them than letting others chose for you and go blind with those options, because there are chances that they will or not like you.
Farewell
I hope this can help someone and give the support to anybody to try their best to achieve their goals. If you see a grammatical problem please tell me after all I am still learning and I want to get better :)
