The report directly links smoking to 13 different types of cancer, including the esophagus, trachea, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, cervix and acute myeloid leukemia.
He linked smoking to more than a dozen chronic diseases such as stroke, blindness, periodontitis, heart disease, pneumonia; reporductive problems such as reduced fertility, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and other respiratory ailments.
Being a passive smoker affects adults and children in different ways. According to the report, exposed children can suffer from middle ear infections, impaired lung function and are more susceptible to sudden infant death syndrome.
