The identity of the Sikh community settled in the US is going to get a big response now, and it will help in curb racial discrimination against the Sikhs in the United States. Because now the information related to Sikh history will be provided in US schools.
This special effort is being done by the New York Department of Education, whereby now US students will be taught the lessons of Sikhism. Let me say that this claim was done in a media report. According to the report, The United Sikhs took part in the teachings of Sikhism in New York with the education system of the US.
The report said that they would include this new text from 5th and 6th class in 5th schools of New York.Pritpal Singh, Political Counselor of United Sikhs, said that 70 per cent of Americans do not have access to Sikhism. According to him, the American people do not know who the Sikhs came from ?? American Sikh Student Aakroop Singh said that the fellow students used to shout at you all the time and it seems very intolerable. It has also been said in the report that by the end of this academic year, 70% of children in the fifth and sixth grade will be taught Sikhi. The education department will also introduce new syllabus in the remaining schools in the next year. It is also reported that the history of the Sikhs has been taught in some schools in the city since September 2016, but it was formally implemented in the remaining schools last Friday.
According to the figures of American gurdwaras, about 5 lakh Sikhs live in the US and it will be a matter of pride for them now.
