Curation and it's benefits.

The Article

Although not all relative, I've been reading articles relating to curation and the importance of it. This article that the picture I've used came from, has some very good points about curation and it's purpose, as well as pretty great guidelines for posting and generating content based on ideas.

Essentially, curation is best used for the organization and sharing of information amongst a peer group. This could mean a handful of individuals in a room, or as in our case, a vast internet of people from all places. In my opinion, the larger the audience for content, the more important curation becomes. When people from all over the world can access quality content that has been deemed valuable by the community at large, that is a very powerful tool!

In the article, when it talks about 21st century curation... That is exactly what we are doing here. We are technologically curating information on a blockchain that is decentralized. Pretty incredible, huh?

More Depth

In the article, where it lists benefits of curation, they are missing a very important point. You can earn steem! ;) But seriously. The beauty of what we have here, is that curation not only benefits those who produce that quality content we all love to consume, but it also pays you to do so! It's like being able to have a job, without even needing to be decided upon as acceptable by someone else's standards. It's expressing your true self to others, and being rewarded by doing so! (In ways, often much more than financially. Some of the conversations people have here can be life-altering, through perspectives being shown to them they had not previously considered.)

There is so much to learn and read, and curation ultimately is important in solidifying the ability to find that content.

A Final Note On The Article

What is most important to gather from the article and through curation in general, is that it should teach you things. You should learn, through the process of curation. Curation means actually reading and observing what is inside of content. It means that you actually invest yourself, mentally, into what content is provided. Curation should be important to you, if you seek to expand your mind.

The person who believes they can learn "enough" about something, is the one who stops growing as an individual.

Manual Curation

I have already begun to attempt curation since my conception here. It is my goal to continue to do so, but on a less automated level. I don't want to miss out on any vote power being lost, so I will leave my automatic curation as it currently is, but I will be looking for new posts that I see potential value in, even if others do not. Actively. Considering there is a major change coming, curation will be more beneficial than ever apparently (I've seen a lot of people stating that.)

The Change

I'm not sure how this would affect someone new like myself, necessarily, as I have nothing to compare it to beyond the scope of my short time here so far. I don't feel as though my time here will have been long enough to have any accurate gauge on the downfalls or strong points, unfortunately. I do think this will be a great place regardless, as it seems to have many people who care. Caring is the first step to any real change for the better, so I have faith in the society that resides here.

My Content& It's Future.

I am still working hard to try and find things to write about and it is not going horribly, necessarily. Iam, however, having a hard time thinking of things I can talk about that have substantial depth and can be discussed consistently.

I continue to say it, but some ideas would really help me out. I'd enjoy knowing what you would like reading about, don't be shy! :) If no one has any solid ideas, I suppose I will continue to wing it and see how things go. :P

I think k the fun thing is you can write about anything. It is up to you to choose the content you want to share then evolve from there. When I first joined steemit, my intent was to write only poetry after all that was what I know. After some weeks, I began writing fiction and then nonfiction. I have done spoken word poetry for the Dsound as well and it has all been interesting and educating.

Just let yourself write as you feel is right. You will be better for it.

I’m fairly sure this is automated... but thank you nonetheless! It seems like a great service and I’m looking forward to using it more for sure!

The partiko points intrigue me, I’ll have to look into what exactly I can do with them. Lol

Hi @lookplz, thanks for sharing. I actually have a really oriented point of view around content curation, and that's one of the reason which made me launch my startup.

To make it brief, I first think there is two way of content curration :

  • curation on the platform where you see it : like commenting on steemit, or upvoting and stackoverflow / redit or other
  • or having a curration separate plateform, but then the same audience from the original platform is not necessary reached which in my sense doesn't really curate the content, as it just make a sub niche on the web with only currated content, but a big part of the audience still consume non well curated one.

And in this scenario I don't see a real opportunity to efficiently curate text content, as texts bot are everywhere, likes or follow/ unfollow bot are necessary for a lot of people to start growing an audience and with AI text generation is improving at light speed so I don't really know where all this is going.

From our side me in my team opted for a video only platform, relying on reaction videos to orchestrate powerfull debates. I'd be happy to exchange with you if you want to, maybe it would give you some ideas for new content ;)

Interesting post.
