Tattoos and taboos. INKED for the Very First Time...

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Since I was a kid, it was always on the near top of my bucket list, that is below "Going to Hogwarts" and "flying off of the face of Mount Everest on a hot air balloon" (LOL. Hey, I was a kid, so no laughs!) that I will definitely get a #tattoo made someday. It didn't matter if it was colored or not, but getting tattooed was an imperative for the young me. However, since my childhood days gave away into the woes of adolescence and the social tensions of young adulthood, academics and professional ventures overshadowed my life in such a way, nearly all the items of my bucket list were all but forgotten.

At college I was good at studying, but due to a traumatic experience that left me with a disrupted state of mind I wasn't being able to focus upon anything. I started doodling tattoo designs, and I was surprised as even though it had been a long time since my sketching days, I was still coming up with pretty cool designs.

Rightly that summer which ended my college life, I decided I was finally entitled to making this choice... I was super excited and was kind of nervous too as it was my very first time. People I knew were intimidating me, saying all kinds of scary and spooky stuff, like it's going to hurt and burn...someone even asked me to get it done while stoned, but my tattoo artist advised me against it, when I finally decided to get it done. She was really nice and comfortingly offered me a complimentary tattoo salve, for which I've been very grateful. So my mind was already made up when I decided to get my first tattoo.

I was terrified at first when she first started her device but eventually I decided with everything else that hurt in my life, the stings of the needle was actually bearable. It was a small tattoo and it was done quickly.

It does look #harrypotter-ish doesn't it? Like blackbirds flying out of the #WhompingWillow? :)

I loved the tattoo so much I had her make another tattoo. Which ended up being my personal favorite, as it is my own name in a sanskrit-like font, on my left foot. So I get to travel alone just with myself which is how I like it best.
