RE: CD

in #life6 years ago

Silly Daddy is so advanced that his computer no longer has a DVD player, or, he could have said the CD player was an early type of player, like this, and played the CD for the
Little Lady.
He would have been a hero then, and the Little Lady could have shown the Good Lady how smart she was.
Try explaining a party line on a wind-up telephone, or an icebox fridge, where the man brought a block of ice each week, or even hand start cars that you cranked to start them, no such thing as button, or, key start.

Sort:

I didn't know there was such a thing as an ice box fridge!

It looked like a freezer on top of the fridge, there was a hose out the back to take the melted water away into a bucket from memory.
The man would bring the ice block and put it into the top part, and God help you if you left the bottom fridge door open.
I can remember Mum making home made ice cream in it so it must have been pretty cool.

Thats ingenious but at the same time I can imagine the joy of when it was no longer necessary

We changed houses, the next house had nothing like that there, there was a roughly 4-gallon kerosine tin sized frame, covered in butter cloth, the bottoms of which were in a container of water.
Placed on the South ( coldest) side of the house, the water evaporation helped keep it cool.
About a month later we got a real fridge, and Mum was happy again.
