My most impressive souvenir of my two trips in China was the ground floors (3 or 4 floors) on some supermarket that were just a huge food court / food mall where you could buy so many food items from any single possible color and in so large amount. Totally like your photos :)
I was however not there during the new year period (I guess it may be even crazier now) :)

lemouth, i'm impressed you survived your souvenir shopping .. the hustle and bustle of supermarkets is quite scary, the more local the scarier it is. The closer to a festival, the scarier it is..
