Hi, friends.
My name is Ivan. I am 33. I am from Moscow, Russia.
First of all I'd like to say sorry for my English, it is not perfect, but I'll try to do my best. Hope that Steem will give me an opportunity to raise my skills in English. I am the owner and the computer graphics supervisor at POSTKINO FX. It is middle size production house in Moscow. I like my job, sports, especially volleyball and bunge jumping, women, children, books, animals, traveling and fishing. I also have interests in history and politics.

This is me

What this post is about?

This post is mostly for people that live in other parts of the world and some times hear news on TV or in social media about Russia, Russian bears, Russian winter, Siberia, and crazy Russians that live here ;) and for those who want to now little bit more about us Russians. Here I will try to speak a little about everything (day to day life, politics, traveling, children and so on). From part to part we will go from one topic to another. So lets start ;)

Shortly about big country

Russia is the biggest country in the world. We have common borders with 3 oceans: Arctic Ocean on the North, Atlantic Ocean on the West and Pacific Ocean on the East. Speaking with different people from other countries I found lots of them think that it is very cold here all the year, but it is not true.
By the way, when my wife went to USA for 6 months and spoke to different people there, she found that most of them does not know anything about us. Most of them think of Russia as something very big, somewhere far away, where is very cold, and the bears are walking on our streets. Really, one day, a girl at the shop when she found that my wife is from Russia asked her: "Is it really very cold in Russia, and you have bears walking on the streets some times?".
In different parts of our country there is different climate. There are places where the snow exist all around the year, where the winters are very cold and the summers are very warm, like in Siberia, for example, where it is warm all around the year.

Here are some photos from different places of our country.

Central Russia

This is where I live. There are lots of lakes and rivers, no mountains, lots of fields and forests. The temperature in winter is in general from -20 to 0, and in summer from 20-35 degrees Celsius.

Siberia

This part of Russia is very interesting. Someone of you maybe heard about it that its cold, there lots of wolfs and bears, and people are drinking vodka all the time )). First of all, I want to say that wolfs and bears live on the most part of the territory of the country, not only in Siberia. There are lots of deep forests here, mountains for skiing. There is also the biggest lake in the world Baikal here. The summers here are very warm, and the winters are very cold.

Yakutia

It mostly the northern part of the territory of the country. There are also lots of lakes, rivers and deep forests. It is not to warm here at summer, and it is very cold in winter. Some forests are so deep that you won't meet anyone in 100-200 miles around you.

Kamchatka

This is the eastern part of Russia. It is so far away from place where I live, like on the other side of our planet. It is near the Pacific Ocean. It is very interesting and very beautiful place.

South of Russia

This part of our country is very popular in summer. When lots of people from all parts of Russia come here on their vacations to the Black Sea. It is very warm in summer, in winter the temperature in general doesn't go lower the 5-10 degrees Celsius.

As you can see, we have lots of places with different nature and climate. For example, on the South of Russia in winter the temperature doesn't fall lower 5-10 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, on the northern parts of Russia there lots of snow and the temperature in summer doesn't go higher then 0-5 degrees Celsius.

People

Well, we are so different. There a lots of nationalities live here. We feel ourselves as the multinational country. Some of us are Christians, some of us are Muslims and others. It is not so important for us what is your religion. The more important for everyone to feel that you are a good man, a good friend.

Does you Russians drink lots of vodka?

Well, vodka is our national drink. But it is not truth that we drink a lot, and every day. For example, I can drink a little when I come to visit my parents. We can sit on the kitchen with my father a drink a little of vodka and speak speak speak all the evening. It's like a tradition. If you see a drunk man somewhere it is not normal, and most of people will stay out of this man.

Why Russians don't smile?

Well, it is a good question. Of course, we smile from time to time, but not always. I think that it is somewhere inside us. Maybe because, we don't like to smile for everything. We smile when something is really funny, or someone smiled to you. For us, when you see someone smiling without a reason is unusual. Maybe there are also some historical reasons for that, because there are lots of parts in our history that are not so funny.

What is the most important word for Russian?

I think there are 2 words. These are MOTHER and TRUTH. I think that truth for Russian is one of the most important words. We are trying to find truth everywhere in history, in policy, in long conversations with friends, everywhere ))

Why are you so aggressive?

I think that someone who does not know anything about us and about our history will ask this question because he got some information from TV.
Well, in truth we are not aggressive people at all, we have our families, our children, we like to see smile on their faces. We have a big territory, but we never had colonial wars in our history. Yes, there were lots of wars, but in all of them we were protecting ourselves and protecting others. Yes, we are good at war, but the truth is that we don't like it.

Conclusion of Part 1

I think it can be a good start for the posts about Russia. I hope you like it. I will be glad to find lots of friends all over the world. If you want to know more, or you have any comments or questions, feel free to ask them. I will be glad to answer them. You can post your questions of any topic in a comments, I will answer them.

Good luck!
And have a nice day ;)
