Wave Gotik Treffen 2018

so, the 27th WGT approaches. in fact, it will start tomorrow, with today already launching some inofficial opening ceremonies. the ›Dunkelromantische Tanznacht‹ will be hosted tonight, as always, by Blaue Stunde, a Leipzig based orga team who is in charge of some of the most beautiful come togethers among Leipzig's Gothic community.
what I love about their events is the friendly atmosphere where all visitors are treated as family. you can strike up a conversation with strangers easily and make new friends in one night of bonfire, wine and dancing. the music is unlike most of the usual club's dark music, ranging from postpunk to heavenly voices and neo-folk, and everything in-between.

this year's WGT ticket - what do you think?

of course, this year's WGT offers a diverse program with 224 bands and artists to watch at different locations all over the city. additionally museums open their exhibitions to WGT guests, cemeteries offer guided tours and theatres present special variety shows and music cabaret.

for me one of the highlights will be the Steampunk picknick on Saturday as well as the VK One J-Rock Party (also on Saturday).

as for the concerts, I already have made my plans, and as every year the schedule is heavily crammed - some performances overlap in time, so there is no way to see all the artists I'd like to see. this is especially true for a band I was most excited about: Frank the Baptist, who will perform around the same time as Anneke van Giersbergen, but in a completely different part of the city.

nevertheless, I'm looking forward to a weekend with friends and lots of music. hopefully I'll find the time to keep you updated about the course of events - if you are interested. 🙂
