Juice Cleanses are the biggest scam in the health industry today
Chances are, if you're unhappy with your weight or worried about your health you've probably tried or at least thought about trying a juice cleanse to try and "remove toxins from your body". Juicing has become an increasingly popular trend in the last few years. Advertisements are everywhere and even celebrities have hopped on the bandwagon of supporting these things. It is viewed by many to be an ultra-healthy way to purify your body and basically start fresh. The idea behind these cleanses is to fast and consume nothing but juices for 3-10 days that are supposed to help you excrete all the toxins from your body.

The lack of Science
As of today there is no reputable scientific research supporting any benefits of a juice cleanse
So what does this mean? Juice Cleanses are total bullshit. There is no magic get out of jail free card that lets you purify your body in a week. It simply doesn't work that way. I don't care how healthy it seems, or how you feel after drinking your magic kale and carrot juice That is scientifically not how your body works. You may see some weight loss as a result of consuming so few calories, but it is very unlikely that you won't gain it back when you go back to consuming real food. It is very possible you will feel good after doing one of these cleanses, but it is called the placebo effect. If you believe you're doing something super healthy of course you're going to feel great about it. What's worse if the juice cleanse is extreme enough you may even see some negative health effects like dehydration or lack of energy. Ever see the memes about having diarrhea while juicing, yeah it turns out enough diarrhea can be very harmful to your body.

Do you really want to risk becoming this guy?

So Why are they so Popular?
Juice cleanses are one of the most successfully advertised products on the market today. I see ads for them all the time from the companies I've followed on my Instagram, not to mention the celebrities who endorse them. I won't lie they do some damn good marketing for these products. If someone doesn't know any better I can completely see why they would buy into the hype. Organic Juice Cleanse to remove all toxins just sounds too good. The benefits sound so good, and the process sounds so easy, who wouldn't want to detox their whole body in a week? The thing is, it really is too good to be true. Some people who have used these products also swear by their success. (I'd bet at least one of them shows up in the comments) The truth is a lot of the positives people might see are simply from consuming a form of fruit, and the placebo effect. There is no detoxification going on. I challenge anyone who disagrees to find me real science explaining how they work.

The Bottom Line
Don't buy into the hype. If you want to become healthier, just incorporating some fruit and vegetables into your diet is a very good place to start. No need to go crazy and start fasting and consuming nothing but juice. This is also a hell of a lot more sustainable than shitting yourself from all the juice you're drinking. I hope I've at least made you think twice beofre assuming that these cleanses are everything they're hyped up to be.
