Another cool discovery spoken about in the article from the blog: Mommy Pages. :

Warning.....Geek rant alert! :) :)
Also being discovered, with regards to pregnancy, is how a mother's circumstances and emotional space are impacting fetal development. A mother who experiences stress, fear, illness, hardship, trauma, and/or depression(and other sustained challenges during a pregnancy can cause an underdeveloped or abnormal autonomic/nervous system. Also exposure to mold, unclean living situations and more.. (they are finding that multiple internal exams during pregnancy and hospitals births for low risk pregnancies cause more harm than good too!!)
The other interesting part of this puzzle is through epigenetics they are finding that trauma and the expression of certain genes is passed down from parent to child without the child needing to experience trauma on their own. With chronic illness, allergies, mental health issues and developmental/ neurologic issues on the rise...this is another puzzle peice in the human health and development equation.
As for the US, and many other countries (to a more or less extreme degree)- Poverty and inequality, malnourishment, lack of proper education and access to natural health information and products, the medical/insurance systems, commercialism, lack of clean healthy shelter, clean and accessable and/or chemically untreated water, violence and increased rates of incarceration, widespread chemical use and environmental pollution, alcohol/cigarette/caffeine/other drug or pharmaceutical use, issues with food nutrients/GMOs/high costs of healthy, organic, whole foods vs low cost of packaged processed, synthetic ly fortified foods(high fat, sugar, salt, artifical, preservatives, factory farmed, dyed...etc.), "safe" perscribed medications can even cause issues!
Let's stop blaming and start listening, including and encouraging each other! (Starting with one self!) None of us excape the impacts of the issues listed above. Untill we understand how everything plays into our behaviors and functioning and began looking inside ourselves to work towards a greater self awareness, we are operating within a biologically, survival based, extreemly altered auto functioning! We are a largely addicted society (s). We escape as the above and accepting the damage is quite difficult and a painful process.... although it's a worthy one! And I'm not just talking about just "socially unacceptable addictions" such as alcohol, drugs, gambling, tabacco use, lying, self mutilation, eating dissorders, ...etc.
The other more difficult to see addictions are: a compulsive search for novelty, TV and media, video games, coffee, smartphones and computers, junk food/food, exercise when taken to an extreem, sugar, unhealthy fats,, medications, negative thought processes and emotional spinning, nail biting, soda, eating out, social media, selfies, how we look or want to look, self critical behavior, over working, people pleasing, greed, money focus, perfectionist behaviors, violence, gaslighting/bullying others, sleeping patterns, blaming everything outside ourselves, judging self/others, constantly chasing external definitions of success, chasing acceptance from others, procrastination, status/power, sex, unhealthy relationships, refusing change, distraction, running away from discomfort, the stories we tell ourselves, worry/fears, desire and rejection patterns, needing a family or children, cleaning, animals/pets, shopping, reading, packed scheduls, religion, AA, support groups, talk therapy, hobbies, higher learning, socialization, 'helping' others, expectations, travel....yes even these'good' things listed can switch to an addiction and escape pattern when we are unaware of our true motives! (And many other examples how we distract and are addicted to distraction and escape.).
I hope you enjoyed the linked article and my rant in response! ;). Thank you for taking the time to read it all! I originally posted this on Facebook but realized it could also turn into a Steemit post.
All There Is, Stephanie.
If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

Very interesting post, although it didn't make me me feel any better.. we are faced with threats on all sides to our psychological, emotional and physical well-being. I think we need to remodel our society completely in order to deal with these threats. A lot of our challenges, especially on a global level, is related to the lack of access to resources, resources meaning, food, water shelter, education, psychological help, etc, and the oppression that wage slavery entails.
And inequality, with it's devastating psychological effects.
Even in rich countries we suffer from inequality, and our time, energy, sense of purpose and agency is taken from us by our jobs, many of them completely meaningless.
Humans once lived on the land, and harvested the fruits of nature. Now it's mostly owned and controlled by corporations and governments.
I'm an optimist at heart, but I think we live in a truly shitty world.
I don't recommend going back to more primitive ways of living though.
The only way is forward, utilizing new technology to liberate, not to enslave.
I greatly agree. A complete global paradigm shift is desperately needed. I guess all we can do is start with her own shifts. The problems can't be addressed if we can't see them clearly ourselves. Thank you for the thought prompts! I believe we'll all get there. Humans are still young in the grand scheme. (if referencing soley scientific information)
