"What does it mean ?" isn't only a question that people ask themselves or others whenever they hear or read about something they never heard of, it should also be asked when we think of rather common things.
Words we use, expressions , gestures, habits , simply the life that surrounds us.
But as everyone has its own history, everyone will look at things on their very own way according to the experiences they've made throughout life. Everyone lives a different life under different circumstances, feeling things the way only they feel them and dealing with things the way they do ,as a result of their own personality.
So if communication isn't only what A says , but more important is what B understands ( because if B doesn't, well there really is no need for communicating at all, isn't it?) - we all should put more effort in understanding B before we even start to talk.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? will bring up little questions you can ask yourself and hopefully share your thoughts with me and the rest of the community, either by posting comments or by writing your own post and tag #Whatdoesitmean or #Wdim
To be able to see things from everyone's unique point of view will not only help us to better understand each other (and as a consequence improve our way of communicating) but also ourselves.
So What does it mean ...to be an adult?
The dictionary will give us the definition of " a person who is fully grown or developed. " We put it in a direct connection to the age.
But as a child when i thought about adults and their lives ( the age-factor was clear even without dictionary) , I had quite precise ideas on what it means to be an adult : they always know what to do and what is right ; they know how to behave and what to say , that they understand the meaning of life and that there is still so so much more that I had to learn!
And as i have grown older and by definition can clearly call myself an adult now ...well, looking on what signified an adult and then looking at myself it also became clear to me that I am not and i thought :
We're all just kids who have grown older!
Of course we think different now, of course we've learned so much within the years that have passed, but most often we drag around demons from the past, we still struggle with similar fears , run after the same dreams and carry the same crazy hopes somewhere deep inside us, just like we did when we we're young.
We will never be " fully developed" so i seriously put in question the term of "adult" as I' m not sure on whom to apply it anyway.
Sadly I have to admit that throughout my whole life I have never met any one who didn't struggle with life , no one ever found all the answers that they were looking for... and lately it seems as if everyone is trying on its own to deal with things the best they can and this is when people start to feel lonely . Because they feel as if they have to fight their way through life alone ...a daily battle.
The statistics prove that loneliness and depression increases. With the world connecting and becoming smaller , how can this be?
Look at all the effort people put on social media to post the proof of their happiness or success , for real or pretended. I can't help but to see the sadness behind and i wonder what is it they are trying to hide? Deep inside, what is it they are afraid of?
So to get back to where we started...What does it mean to be an adult??? ...the question awaits your answers!
...and until we 'll find an answer : We are all just children who have grown older....
