Ps: if you see that there's a problem with engagements then you can join the #engagetogrow and start commenting on people's videos leaving your thoughtful thoughts :)
That is such a ridiculous idea. That only encourages more fake behaviour because people have to go out of their way to comment. Whatever happened to simply commenting on things that people like and care about? Does YouTube have a problem with engagement? Do they need to incentivize people to fucking watch other peoples videos and comment on their content? Fuck no. People watch what they are genuinely interested in. If you need to start some kind of movement or incentivize people to watch and comment on other people's videos, that is a serious problem with an even deeper root.
I agree and disagree at the same time. I still think that YouTube is a better platform for uploading videos. I think dtube is for networking. Yes, you are right about incentivizing and encouraging people to comment kind of forces them to comment, but the truth is that since there's this monetary reward and that now the course is quite down..some people just don't care about watching other people's content because there's YouTube for that. We gotta remind people though that the The awesome part about dtube is the COMMUNITY aspect, like it was at the beginning.
Winny out... for now 😉
This is an interesting point that I often bring up. Steemit is essentially a networking platform yet its setup as a Medium/Vimeo setup. The platform is setup for content creation yet not at all about content. I like Steemit but it is more playing the game than it is a place I come to consume content in the same way I do on Youtube or Reddit, I come to play the game, make a witty comment, tell someone great post. I do occasionally see some good content on here and I have a lot of friends on this platformI like but its a networking platform with no groups, no messaging, and really not at all setup for networking lol.
Interesting point about playing the game. I used to come to Steemit and I would browse through the "New" posts and try to find good content or people to follow. Slowly, I would see more and more accounts "greyed out" or with bad reputations. Nearly every page actually. A lot of posts would be low effort or copied/pasted content.
This kind of made me lose interest and now I just support those I follow and I don't really try to branch out and find new content. It's just too difficult to sift through. It's a shame really.
I wish there was a more intuitive way to find interesting content on Steemit.
I think the cure to all this fake circle jerking is to acquire ample amounts of Steem Power. When you are a peasant on this platform, you are kissing ass and saying shit to try and get an upvote. When you possess an ample amount of SP, you don't give a shit about anyone's lousy upvotes and just say whatever the fuck you want. In essence, to get to the level of authenticity you have on Reddit, YouTube, etc. you need to invest thousands and thousands of dollars on this platform lmao.
Being a dick isn't any better than being fake. You might as well put yourself in a box and say don't talk to me.

Telling the truth is better than lying. I am not trying to sound like a dick. Me telling people what I think is the truth makes me look like a dick to others. You'd be surprised how many other people on this platform are "dicks" as well but don't express it. There is piss poor engagement on DTube. Why? Because people generally don't care about other people's videos and don't find them interesting. Now imagine how many people think that way but don't actually express it? Generally speaking, if people don't care about another person's videos, they simply won't post anything. There is bad engagement on DTube because everyone is thinking "this video sucks and I don't care about it" but they instead choose to just ignore it. This has gone on long enough and it isn't making this platform any better.
Should we also tell fat people how big and FAT they're because it's the truth lol
Maybe yeah. It depends. It isn't necessarily about what you should or shouldn't do. I am not someone that will go to every persons video and say that it is complete trash.
Could you imagine if nobody ever called a fat person they are fat?
That's essentially what DTube is like. Nobody every tells anyone else that their video sucks and then people just continue doing the same thing over and over.
Speaking exactly how you feel and with malice, which is how you come across, only pushes people away. It does not make someone say, "Oh yeah he makes complete sense, let me change my ways." The key to truth is, humbleness, empathy, and respect. You show no signs of any of those factors and what will happen is you will just make people think you are a jerk.
You also keep saying that people don't care but "this guy" right here, does. So blanket your blanket statements do not resonate with me.

It was different at the beginning though...we have to make it back to normal again
