Hi, Steemian welcome to my blog, Today I would like to talk about the Future prospects in Africa.
The average Nigerian; nay the African, will find it difficult understanding why he or she has remained virtually submerged at the level of subsistence over the years, while his counterparts in other parts of the world have made great strides. He would not be able to comprehend, why after so many years of self-government, his or her situation has not changed much. Instead it is worsening. He would also not be able to decipher why in the face of plenty, there exist so much suffering. He has been repeatedly told that the continent possesses potentials for transforming itself into an egalitarian society, where hardships an sufferings would be banished forever, et nothing seems to have been achieved so far. He is frustrated, angry and despondent. The future seems to be bleak.
It is true that the African continent as a whole has not been fully integrated within the mainstream of development that the world witnessed during the last three decades. This continent has remained only at the periphery. Although there are isolated success cases of countries within the continent, what Africa has achieved as a whole is growth at the expense of development. Although the part of prosperity is strewn with a lot of obstacles, the way forward has been charted with the successful demonstration and acceptance of “Waste to Wealth” as one of the numerous strategies the continent can avail itself of.
For most African countries currently implementing the “Waste to Wealth” scheme provides very good complement. The Nigerian has revealed he latent benefit that could be realized as part of the overall strategies for solving the myriad of economic problem the continent is presently tackling without success. It is adoption on a continental scale will banish once and for all the stark poverty of Africans, which generally constitute a wanton waste of human resources, potentially the most viable of all the resources. Some of the resources and wastes and the uses to which they could be subjected for which an in-depth research has been conducted.
• Shells
In most part of Africa, snail, oysters and other crustacean are delicacies and they are daily consumed in their thousands at the end of which the shells are discarded without any consideration for their usefulness, But these are useful items that could br reshaped into works of Arts and other ornaments, such as trays, wall decorations, flower plantings and earrings.
Shells have many uses int the arts, for example, buttons, earrings and pendants could be mde from them.
• Raffia Seed
Raffia seeds as entrepreneurs of “Waste to Wealth” have found out, could alo be used to produce key holders, bells, earrings, necklaces and chandeliers. Hitherto, raffia seeds were used only for scout woggles. The raffia seeds abound in most coastal areas of the African continent
• Wood
The use of wood waste could be put is incalculable Sawdust, for example, the waste product of carpentry and other industrial activities can easily be processed by a simple machine into briquette, a coal substitute, while this has export potential. Its local use in satisfying demands for new sources of energy in Africa cannot be overlooked.
