The Social Media Struggle

Hi! So I would like to talk about my struggles with using social media. I have taken a couple long breaks from all social media- I'm currently taking one. But normally, I'm an active user of SnapChat, Instagram and Facebook and occasionally, I will indulge in Pinterest (sounds like a drug addiction). Long story short, I think it's evil. I think it wastes time and I don't understand WHY?! Why do we need to tell people what we are constantly doing? I do it. But why? To show people I'm cool, to inspire them, to let them experience what I'm experiencing, or to just have pictures to document the memory (but then share them)? I have no idea. I think I've done it for all those reasons. So how should I be using it? I'm fully aware the mindless scrolling is toxic. But what about seeing inspirational art, quotes, nature, people, etc. I like that. That seems like it's a good thing. But again, I just don't know. In an age of constant information, I need to take away some stimuli. It becomes too much. Despite all this, I will reluctantly return in a couple weeks. I think it has the potential to be used for good and I think it's fun. But I will set limits this time around. I will use it with intention and never when I'm "bored", that is a trap. Sometimes I consider going back to a "dumb" phone but I use GPS, Spotify and Bitmoji too often. So, that is my vent about social media and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on the matter. I realize there are much bigger issues to be discussed but this is a Big American problem and I want to talk about it. Thanks for reading :)
