Time is such a precious resource, yet we throw it away like we have an endless supply. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your 24 hour day!

Avoid Email

Email is important in many ways. But it's easy to waste a lot of time on it.
Have a designated email period that you check, And that's it. Get your email business done. And be done.
Preferably not when you first wake up either (I'm often guilty of this) Because your brain runs at peak performance within an hour of you waking up. This is why you should focus on the most important tasks first.

Don't Let Work Eat Your whole day

Cough.. Cough.. I know I've been doing this lately, But it's only temporary.
It's the whole thing I keep bringing up about "workaholic syndrome." Being a workaholic doesn't make you more productive than anyone else. In fact, Workaholics who work 24/7 are known to be less productive.
So set that timer and force yourself to get your task done.
And if you have ADHD like I do, Those kitchen timers that make that "clicking" sound, are perfect. The clicking relaxes my brain so I can go into hyperfocus on my task.
So try the timer method. Or use the POMODORO technique.

Do Time Audits

You take a notebook, Or you can print out a worksheet online. You then have to account for every hour of everyday, Do this for a few days. Also, install Rescue time for your computer. It will track how long you waste on certain things. So if you spent 5 hours on Facebook. It will let you know at the end of the week.
Do this for a few days or weeks straight; Then you can see where you are productive, and what times you tend to slack.
Maybe you can give yourself a break around that time to prevent slacking.

What drains your time and energy?

Figure out what things you hate doing, What makes you flat out miserable. Can you remove them? Can you put them last? This will help you become more productive in the long term.

Realize you can get a lot done in a half hour

We underestimate 30 minutes of time. What can you get done in that time? You can do a lot.
I can easily write a blog post in that time Or make 3-10 Tshirt designs. Don't "Throw away" those half hours. They add up so fast!

Couldn't agree more!
Have been thinking for quite some time now how Facebook, instagram etc. Etc. Just steal peoples life away.

It's true! I wish I could delete my accounts on those platforms. But I use those for my followers with my business so it's really not an option .

Spot on my situation as well.
During the last 4 year (ish) many of my customers/ business contact has stopped use mail to only use social media chats like FB, LINE, WhatsApp Etc.
So if i would delete my FB, i would lose contact with 2/3 of my network. :(

Crap! Its like we are trapped! At least if we careful we don't have to waste too much time using it! Also with these automated apps, It makes it easier to post a head of time.

I Knowwwww .... Hahahaha
First .. I only use my phone for communicating.. Never spend any other time on these "time thieves".
Secondly... I have told everyone that if they want something urgent .. CALL!!
Only msg me if a reply can wait an hour (ish).
(it stresses me to death to hear this bling and beep and all sounds when the msgs comes.. So they are mostly OFF.
Ps. Like your "mind". ;)

Exactly! I'm the same way with my texting. I keep my phone on silent and only answer when I have a while hahah. Which is rare. Sometimes I keep people waiting days. XD

And more .... When i have a personal meeting with others ... NO PHONES!
Thats a rule without exceptions..
Hate when a phone beep every 2-3 minute and the other one stop our conversation to read/reply,
Neither our meeting OR those replies will be properly since you'll try to do things quick and multitask.. Not good.
Ps. When i meet people the first time and tell them my rule and they don't believe its for real,
I give them 1 chance before i say: get back to me when you have time instead because i clearly see that you aint got that now.
Then i never have to worry about any disturbing interruptions in that meeting again XD

Ah the work thing.... as an entrepreneur and investor, the time slips by constantly as if you are not pressing forward you are falling behind. One break I get is to occasionally surf YouTube, twitter and other outlets for news that may change the course of my businesses. What a wicked trap... and I must say that Steemit has also increased my time-on-net compared to in life.

I am not complaining mind you, I often times find it stimulating, challenging and yes mostly necessary.

And I hear you, we need more time to live life than preparing to do so... as always thank you.

So true!! I agree with the Steemit too.
I feel like even if I take a one hour break my competitors are getting ahead.

hehe No problem :) Thank you for such an awesome comment.

@kaylinart we are not competitors, we are Team-Mates, or Steem-Mates. Yes some will surge ahead and we want to build as fast as we can... but why?

I think Steemit will be around for a long time and you are one of it's pioneers.
I am a professional Martial Artist as well (why many businesses, locations, travel and investments... on borrowed time), and what I constantly remind folks in training is... "This is not a competition, this is cooperation... if it were a real emergency you will become aware of it".

I'm not sure hehe

I agree with Steemit. I feel that other places are more competitive.
I love your thought process on it though!

I am going to adapt these to my work. The kitchen timer is a great idea.

Heheh Yes!! I love the kitchen timer, Plus they are super cheap.

Wow cool, but how can i contact you
