Yesterday my husband and I took an amazing trip to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We were able to park right by the canyon and take in the sites. And as its name implies, the canyon has many rock formations with beautiful hues of red.

Many groups were hiking throughout the canyon. Some groups made it very far and were high up the canyon.

They were very motivating to watch. We almost wished we had brought proper hiking footwear to join them.

Taking time out from our daily obligations, we were able to really see the beauty that was right in front of us. We were engulfed in it all around us, and it really provided a fresh perspective of what mother nature has to offer.

The Southern Nevada Conservancy, a nonprofit organization, has helped sponsor the canyon by educating the general public on the importance of conserving its resources since 1988.

The cliffs that make up Red Rock are thousands of feet high and consist of Aztec Sandstone.

Geologists say they arebetween 180 to 190 million years old! And reach across 195,819 acres of the Mojave Desert.

Red Rock has a variety of trails through regions like the Calico Hills and Willow Springs. Visitors can hike the trails in groups or drive past them and take in the scenery from a distance. Either way, you're sure to be in harmony.
