Becoming a YES-person and trying new things. First up: Brazilian jiu-jitsu

in #life7 years ago (edited)

I just came from my first ever Brazilian jiu-jitsu-training, and boy, how fun was that! After I moved to Sigerfjord from Stavanger, I decided that whatever comes my way, needs to be tried. So when my cousin asked @level.north and me to join a different kind of workout, I had to say yes. Read about me taking a chance by moving to the other side of the country here :)

Us (sweaty) newbies picking up moves for our next training ...

Because, let's be honest; what's the worst that can happen when you try something new? Either you like it, and how cool is that to have a new hobby? ... And if you don't like it, well, then just don't do it again. I actually believe most people are afraid to say yes and try new things. Because the known is so much comfortable than the un-known. But for me saying no is no longer an option, and I think I will grow as a person by being a YES-mam.

Next time we'll be all pro and stuff, just like this.

Wow wish you the best in your endevours we all need a little training and discipline in our every day lives and this shows just that good luck

I totally agree :) Thank you!

Yes! MMA is a great form of training. If this was your first training, you'll feel muscle-aching tomorrow and the day after :)
But seriously, MMA is one of the best training forms in my opinion. You get great training, streching, and last, but not least, the ability to defend yourself if you should need it (let's hope not).

Back in the days, I used to train kickboxing, and then a few years with MMA. But now it's just running...and i miss MMA training!

Maybe I have to become a YES-man too? :)

Ohh, that sounds like something I want to become good at, especially the defending myself -part :) Here I think the biggest threat is moose, so will need to figure out how to stop a moose-attack ;)

Sounds like you definitely should become a yes-man! ... and get that helmet too when you're at it ;)

Akways wanted to try
How was first few weeks?

Today was the first time I tried it and it was a lot of fun!

God, that seems like so much fun.

I'm currently practising Muay Thai, but I'd like to pick up jiu jitsu in the future as well.

Wow, Muay Thai looks a biiiiit rougher than what we did today ... I really liked that way of working out, so I look forward to learning a lot more :)

@kariofthenorth this looks like a great way to stay on top of those winter blues, good luck with your move :-)
