What is Hive for? The real value of a social blockchain

in #life25 days ago

Hive will allow you to talk to your younger self and remind you of who you used to be.

Recently, many hivers have been talking (along with the whole crypto community) about the recent woes of the price. A certain communal delusion have been all over the lines of the posts. People that consider that Hive has stop growing and is less and less attractive. From the death of some dapps, including their once loved games.

Some prominent hive voices have expressed the need of integrating with AI and saving data as a way to make the most out of this blockchain. Similarly I think about the first days of Steem (before Hive) in 2016, and what was the original promise of this social blockchain. That promise was to preserve the data through time on a decentralized manner in a way that can't fail or be censored by anyone. That was originally draw me to create an account right away and start blogging.

Along with other competing technologies like ZeroNet and Tor, I started blogs to have a "digital presence". However through the years, Hive has proven to be the right choice for Web3.

I have been preserving this account for almost 10 years and I still hold the integrity of my past publications, some that seemed like revolutionary ideas some others were delusions and some were, well it was just fun.

Posting on different topics from Python and coding to anime and movies, I have been able to successfully preserve these ideas. The real value of hive is the preservation of a digital vault that will hold your thoughts, dreams and fears and pass it to your older self in the future. So you can re-live and rediscover things that you might have forgotten about yourself.

People change, and life change, and many things that you used to be very excited about change. Sometimes it helps to look back and recognized who you used to be. The things that make you loose sleep or get you up every morning. Those things or people or plans that occupy most of your brain and time. At the end of the day, father time is undefeated and maybe the big LeBron fan that I am today will not be in the future as other players capture my imagination or maybe I am still stubborn and keep myself loyal to my favorite groups from the 90s.

Whatever happens, recording these hype, thoughts, and excitement on the blockchain, it's a guaranteed that they would be preserved to the best of my abilities to record them. Whenever is captured on text, image or video, they would be here in 10, 20 maybe even 30 years. Maybe it would be preserved on the digital brain of some AI version of myself, or maybe it would be part of a "hive mind" floating in space. Whatever it will become, it will not be lost as my previous posts on databases or long lost companies that used to be successful.

To that uncertain future, I hope Hive accomplish its promise of be preserved through time.

Fully agree. I would like of course a better time for our precious token's price, but turning to the very foundation of the Web3 and particulary of this blockchain is quite important to remember why we are here beyond economical motivation.

Great write-up!! We are running in circles, just like cryptocurrencies go through cycles, and life itself goes in cycles... Every time our favorite crypto is hit and the price drops, doubts arise... And the best way to get rid of those doubts is exactly what you did here...

Remind yourself about the fundamentals, the premise, the idea, the promise... Did something change? It didn't? Then why the f%# are we freaking out... 😃
