Myths about fitness and the truth behind them

in #life7 years ago

Sadly, there are a lot of fitness myths about exercises or diets that clearly won’t help you obtain the results you wish for and that will do you more harm than good.

I’m going to tell you a few of them, and what’s the truth behind them, to help you achieve your goals and stay fit in the best possible way.

Myth: The best moment of the day to do your workout is in the morning, before doing anything else

Truth: Actually, the best moment do to your exercises is anytime you want, as long as you make sure that your workouts are constant. It would be perfect if you would make your physical exercises a daily habit, so if you’re the kind of person who prefers going to the gym in the evening, than so be it. Or if you prefer to go for a run in the morning, do that. The choice is yours.

Myth: Weightlifting transforms fat into muscle

Truth: You can’t transform fat into muscle! The two are very different tissues. The fat tissue is located under your skin, between muscles and organs like your heart, while your muscles are located everywhere in your body.

Weightlifting can help the muscle tissue grow, but it won’t transform fat into muscle. The best way to get rid of fat tissue is maintaining a healthy diet which includes vegetables, whole grains, protein and healthy fats, like those you find in olive oil and fish.

Myth: Sport is the best way to lose weight

Truth: If you want to lose weight, don’t expect the gym to do miracles for you. Firstly, you have to change your diet to a healthy one, and then you have to support this diet with physical exercises. Sports are for sure a necessary condition for you to stay fit, but it’s not enough.

Myth: You only have to go to the gym once or twice a week to stay fit

Truth: This may not come as a surprise, but going to the gym only once or twice a week is not enough. For your workout to produce real effects, you should go to the gym or exercise at home 3-5 times a week.

What's the myth you've trusted?

Fitness of the body is very good. Me personaly i like excercise to keep my body fit. It also help burns calories in the body!stay fit. Love you post @jwolf

Thank you!

Another myth: Hit the gym as much as you can, lift weights and your body will transform.

Truth: The most effective way to get stronger, is to follow a plan which implements the principles of training (like progressive overload, adequate recovery, and Specificity).

@yoram

Fantastic post, I will definitely resteem it. let's spread health and fitness to the community.

Also wanted to add that to LOSE WEIGHT at any cost you need to be in a caloric deficit, which means burn more than what you eat. Then consistency is the key to get results at the gym. You are better off going 3 times a week for a year than going 7 times a week for a week :)

I think it is truth Sport is the best way to lose weight.

Your statement is true, there is no substitute for exercise for weight loss and food suppression should be adopted, then our body will be very fit and acutely

What should i call it useful information or advice?Whatever it is it's very important indeed.Thank's for such important information.@upvoted

nice and also very interesting post...so thanks for sharing with us

I exercise for about 1 hour 5 times a week to maintain My body to stay fit , I also maintain My food by eating low callories and low fat.to prevent over weight, menepouse etc,so now i feel healthy and Happy. I like Your post @jwolf

The "fat into muscle" thing is a very enduring myth, but the way you explain it makes complete sense. I suppose if you exercise properly, you'll burn fat and build muscle, but they are two distinct processes.

That's true bro , one thing I can connect with is playing sport is perhaps the best way to loose weight or stay fit . I used to play cricket during all my weekends and that would help me to stay fit throughout all days . Thanks for sharing your insights @jwolf

Incorporating even a 2 minute exercise every now and then also helps in staying fit. It does not matter if you don't have full day.

I do agree but to the first myth. I do feel much better when I startet my day with my daily sports routine. It gives me more energy, makes me feel more successfull and just lifts up my whole spirit. Of course I sometimes just squeeze it into the day, but that never makes me feel that good. Great post thanks for that.

fitness is not a one day thing but a lifestyle i believe

As the article here you added states, there are so many myths surrounding health and exercise (heck everything), today. Everything starts with nutrition and ends with adequate sleep, being active in between is also mandatory. Keep exposing the myths sir...we all should.

omg i was living in a world full of misconceptions till now

I lift weights and I have no fat to turn into muscle if this was true 😂. I find its hard to find good facts about weightlifing there is so much 'broscience' out there. I follow Scott Herman on Youtube he is one of the bettet ones

If you want get fit start with a healthy diet and get enough sleep. These are the most important factors for a good health. Then start implementing exercise. If you can do 1-2 a week that's amazing. After a while you will have more energy AND find it fun to exercise. Then 4-5 times a week seems like nothing.

I find your posts really helpful @jwolf, again I was hit hard by the third myth, I only run once a week! I'll try to improve.

time to get fit without any myth
