Drought in Cape Town

in #life7 years ago (edited)

A lot of you might have heard about the recent drought in Cape Town. I do not think that anyone who does not live here can comprehend how serious this is.

The news makes a lof of mention about this but no one (not even people residing in Cape Town) takes this seriously.

This is currently what the Theewaterskloof dam looks like that has to provide water to the Western Cape.

We have gone in the level 6B water restrictions which only allows us to use about 50 litres of water per person per day. When day zero reaches in April we will have to stand in queues to collect water at designated water points. We will only be allowed 25 litres of water per person per day.

This is what the water collection points will look like.

It is going to cause a huge crisis for our economy as people have to take time off work just to go and collect water. Another question that people are asking is how will you be able to carry 25 litres of water per person?

This thing has not been thought through very clearly.

In the meantime all we can do is pray for a miracle. That we receive much needed rain so that the dams can fill up.

Please send this post on so that everyone can see what the current state is. There is also an urgent plea on anyone who will be coming to Cape Town for holiday to bring along bottled water.
