That's awesome. What part of the country are you in? Have you had much luck? There are a couple places north of me that are known to produce gold but they are about 2 hours away, a little far to make it a day trip...
Southern AZ, but I have done it up in Alaska as well. My best luck is going to the beaches for rings though. I used to live on Oahu, so have found enough gold and platinum rings to fill up a hand of fingers.
I do both, depends on if there is water available or not.
