Keys to start training our mind to face the negative:
1-UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS: Understand that it,s a normal process and that it comes from our evolution when you weren,t all the time thinking about the fears and dangers that happened to die. Nowadays, this type of thoughts doesn,t make sense although our obsolete mind doesn,t realize it.
2-COGNITIVE MENTAL EFFORT: Once this is understood we must make a small cognitive effort that at first will cost us a bit, but little by little it will become easier and easier. This exercise consists of changing the negative thought for an image that is valuable and reassuring for us (for example: that day on the beach, that wave at sunset, that dance, that moment with your partner or friends ...). Notice that it,s easy to fall into thinking that this is useless or that mental training doesn,t lead me to anything, etc ... But only doing so will lead you to see for yourself the benefit of training our mind. Sometimes it,s hard for us to understand and train the mind however culturally if we do it with muscles practicing physical exercise. Try it and if it doesn,t work, change it.
3-VALUE THE PROGRESS: Every day that you do it you will be checking that it,s easier and you should do the exercise of becoming aware of this. If you don,t, you won,t see that you are progressing in mental and cognitive training and it,s easy to leave and return to negativity. To become aware of your progress is just to stop for a minute and think that today has been easier than yesterday.
