About Satyajit Ray, May 2, 1921 - 23 April 1992 is an Indian filmmaker and one of the greatest film directors of the twentieth century.
He was born in a Bengali family renowned in the world of literature and industry in the city of Calcutta. His ancestor's hut was located in Massoya village under Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district of Bangladesh. He studied at Visvabharati University, established at Presidency College, Calcutta and Rabindranath Tagore in Santiniketan.
While starting his career as a commercial painter, he first met in Kolkata with French filmmaker Jean Renoir and was inspired to create films after seeing the Italian neo-realityist film Laadre de Bicicletti (Italian language Ladri di biciclette, "Bicycle Thief") while visiting London.
As a filmmaker, Satyajit was versatile and his work was huge. He produced 37 full-length storybooks, documentary films and short films. His first film, Pather Panchali, received 11 international awards, among which was the Best Human Documentary Award, which was one of the ear films. Pathar Panchali, Aparajit and Apur Sansar - these three films are called Apu Trio together, and this movie-trio is well-known as the best act of his life or Magnum Opus.
Through the film, Ray did a number of works, including screenwriting, screening, composing music notation, drawing, art direction, editing, designing the list of names of artists and publishers. He was a fiction writer, publisher, painter, graphic designer, and film critic. He got many awards in the colorful career. However, the most famous among them is the 1992 Academy Awards (Oscars), which he earned as a full-fledged career.
