Alignment
One thing I know for sure is that Alignment trumps all. While scrolling facebook one day I came across a post about how a social media influencer, who wildly successful and profitable mastermind retreats in Bali, had CANCELED her next mastermind and all future masterminds. Her reason, she didn't align with the content she was coaching anymore...The coach who canceled the mastermind, profited $1M annually from these masterminds!!
Initially, my mind I was thinking "How dumb can she be", "Saying No to 1 million a year", "Is she high" But it got me thinking.....
If I was to be completely honest with myself... WHAT WAS I DOING IN MY LIFE WHICH I WASN'T ALIGNED WITH?? There a was A LOT!!
Out with the Old, In with the New
I went on a life cleaning rampage!! Everything that I didn't align with or anything in my life which didn't sit right with me I discarded. Some things were as easy as putting rubbish in the bin, some were as painful as saying goodbye to some friendships id been apart of out of obligation rather than a sense of actual connection with that person and having to tell them that!!
Some of the more prominent decisions I made:
1. I STOPED PERSUING MY CAREER AS A HELICOPTER PILOT!!
This for me was the number one biggest decision I made. Don't get me wrong I LOVE flying helicopters and it was a privilege to even have the opportunity to learn to fly them but the industry gave me a yucky feeling inside!! The backstabbing, talking behind peoples backs, lack of support and emotional abuse that was in the industry was terrible.
When I made the decision, I had every person I knew ask me what I was doing, if I was crazy or if I was high or going crazy but I knew deep down that this line of work was not going to fulfill me at all in the long run.
2. Only do things which are going to move my life forwards!
There were rather a few behaviors I was participating in that DID NOT move my life forward in any way. Drinking every weekend, eating unhealthy, talking about people in a bad way. So I replaced that all with eating well, talking belief into people.
3. I had to say goodbye to some friendships.
It's tough saying it but there were some friendships that I was entertaining out of obligation and to me that was selling myself short and also very unfair to the other person! So I didn't just talk to the person ever again, I told them out of respect the mission I was on and what was coming from it and why we couldn't be friends any longer. Most of those people went on their own journey and we got close again because they sorted out things I couldn't stand about them which was really cool to see!
4. I practiced gratitude every day!!
It's very very hard to live a life to the full without gratitude and gratitude will really get rid of any negative mood instantly. There are so many times in life we can be grateful for and I chose to exercise that every day!
But what I realized in this process of cleaning up my life is once I'd made space, there was room for new and better things to come into my life!
What Came From This Radical Shift
Once I'd done a lot of cleaning of my life (such a weird concept) lots of new cool things started popping up. Which I know wouldn't have come to me, if all of that old crap was still part of my life. The most rewarding of which was a new fun and loving relationship.
Sarah and I met only because I was open and my life was ready to have a partner in it! Hint: Those who are looking for love, get rid of whats not serving your life and watch the universe bring you what you're ready for.
We fell in love very quickly and started building a business together which lead us to Bali for 5 months of 2016!
Wrapping things up:
What I'm saying steemit community is everything I have in my life today is due to this spring clean of my life i did. There is no way you can bring in new and wonderful things into your life unless you get rid of the old cruddy things that don't serve you! Take it from me, its worth it!!
But I'd love to interact with you all who have been through something like this or are struggling with something in this area.
Comment below and let's chat because I'm sure we all have experiences where we can offer some support!
We ALL have so much to give and our content is worth something more than a thumbs up on Facebook or a retweet on Twitter. I write these blogs out of inspirations as do I do all of my work out of inspiration.
What a great and inspiring story! I'm happy you commented on my article and that way I found yours :-)
Alignment is key. It takes a certain time and life experience to realize what's best for us and what doesn't contribute anymore. Getting rid of stuff and people that don't support us on our future path is a hard task but essential for personal growth.
I upvoted with 100%, follow your blog and resteemed this post. That's my 100% I guess :-)
PS: There's a little typo in the headline.. 'stopped' needs one more 'p' :-)
Thanks so much @surfermarly. What super super funny is I was just watching a video on YouTube on how to get noticed on Steemit by cryptoland and your name popped up as you had upvoted his post and resteemed it! So it's a pleasure to have you following my page now! Thank you so much for the support!!
It sure does take courage to do all that but I'm so glad I did it! And I'm sure anyone else who has been through a similar process would say the same thing. I will link the video I was watching below so you know what I'm talking about :) Look forward to more interactions in the future.
Oh and thanks for pointing out the typo haha 😂
Spelling is not a strong point of mine haha
That's such a good blog post. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for that @sarahcarol.

Must've taken a lot of courage to quit that job of yours and pursue something that you love.
Most of my friends after graduation joined some or the other job just for the sake of earning something. I, although got some jobs, haven't jumped into them because I know it's not gonna help me grow. I've just been doing what I love and Steemit has been a strong backup force. nice post man. Wish you the best for your future endeavours. ;)
Thanks so much for commenting!
Yea to be honest it was one of the hardest things i Iad to do leave my career but like you, I see so many people graduate high school, and then go straight into the workforce because that is "THE RIGHT THING TO DO" but by who's standards???? Society has told us there is a right way to do life and everyone seems to just comply.
Yeah! it's pretty annoying to see that everyone's being programmed like a robot. And then there's this notion "What will society think? What will society say?". There's no space for freedom becaus of this thing called society. however things see to be changing for the good. Keep posting good stuff. Following ya! :)
Thank you so much @sizuka!! Love the GIF haha
hey congrats on getting 'levelled-out' as to where your true intention wants to be. it can take a lot. props (sic) for finding it!
Thank you!! I've got a lot more in-depth content about that experience coming so be sure to follow me as I'm sure you will enjoy it!
I just followed you, I will love it if you follow me as well, and with the upvote too
Thanks for the follow! Will follow back. Looking forward to reading some of your content!
Thank you very much, I won't disappoint, and I hope to learn a lot from you
Cool story. What kind of business are you in now?
Thanks for the comment! So I run an online health and wellness business where I help people get healthy such as increasing energy levels, losing weight, putting on muscle mass, aging more youthfully and just generally feeling better about themselves! Its super rewarding and means I can travel, meet people, get paid, work where there is Wifi and build on my other passions!
I've always wanted to fly - it's a shame to discover that the life of the professional helicopter pilot is as full (or more full) of the same kind of bullshit that pollutes the rest of the corporate world. But it sounds like you've made some important moves in your life and I'm glad you've grown happier as a result.
Hey @winstonalden don't get me wrong flying is amazing but what I realized very quickly is that when flying for a job is a very quick way to lose your passion and the love of flying because it becomes a 'have to' rather than a want to!
Yea thanks heaps! I'm grateful I had the courage to do so!
Yeah, I guess that's true about anything. I loved the flight lessons I took (got as far as a couple of solos) but if I had to go out every day in terrible weather, or deal with gnarly passengers, I'm sure the gloss would come off pretty quick.
Do you get to fly recreationally at all?
Yeap very true! That's so cool you got to fly solo. Its a very memorable experience going solo. Were you in a fixed wing?
I haven't flown in a while but looking to get back into it as soon as possible! What about you? Are you planning on doing any more flying?
Yes - your standard fixed wing Cessna 152 trainer. Loved every minute of it.
This was back in 2004. When we had the opportunity to buy a house I couldn't justify the cost of lessons any longer. As for getting back to it - who knows? It has a lot to do with the price of Steem!
Well, let's support each other on steemit and get you back into the sky! I know what it's like being grounded because of finances! I followed you earlier
