Some people believe it is better for a society to just think 'collectively' and they based their idea on the fact that, in a way, it makes it easier to focus all of our forces into a single one and accomplish bigger goals in our humanity.

However, what they don't see is that when we grow our individual selves, we are pushing ourselves to become better. When competion is encouraged, we want to be better than others, which just makes us better from what we were before. We want to learn more, be more skillful and thus, our society in the end receives a much better improvement.

Besides that, focusing on our individualism first, actually means searching for our happiness. A happy society, means a successful one.
