This was a really interesting post. First off, I want to really thank you for writing and sharing it.
That being said, I disagree with a few of the important points. I find it to be highly unlikely that the government is behind or 'on top of' the crytocurrency situation. I think it hit them from the side like a freight train, and they're scrambling to devise ways to deal with it.
I do agree that they have likely found a few ways already, but I highly doubt that any of them is meaningfully scalable or usable. Another issue is that cryptocurrencies may well have banks and bank-associated institutions (esp the Federal Reserve) literally pissing their pants.
The banks bankroll and control a LOT of what the government does (though usually indirectly). There is NO WAY that banks would tolerate any government agency creating something that could destroy them for the mere reason of devising a trap. If cryptocurrency was created by the government, rest assured that the banks are in on it (which, again, makes no sense).
As for Satoshi, my guess is that it's highly unlikely that it is one person. He could be anyone, yet we can tell some things about 'him'. He had something to gain from hiding, he's an advanced thinker(s), 'he' probably made a killing off cryptocurrencies, and he absolutely despises formal institutions.
Because cryptocurrencies like bitcoin are a huge threat to them.
Thanks.
Or maybe that's what they want us all to think:)
Most of the banks are heavily involved in crypto. It is a misperception to assume they are against it. Cryptocurrencies are a tool which they will eventually use. They are already testing payments and settlement using blockchains like Ripple.
I would agree on that. I never stated he was one person.
Or maybe he is part of one. I don't think we have enough information about him to make such assumptions. It is interesting that his coins have never moved either. I think you are making a lot inferences about cryptocurrencies and government based on your own subjective biases regarding both. I hope you are right because I'm also a big cryptocurrency supporter. I just think it is important to consider all possibilities.
Thanks for a great response:)
