Should you eat even when you're not hungry?

in #life6 years ago

Do you ever work all day, burn a lot of calories, come home to look in the fridge, and decide you're just not that hungry?

It's strange isn't it? Your body should need a lot of nutrients because you used a lot of energy throughout the day.

Sometimes though, it's as if the body says You know what? Forget it.

Now I'm usually hungry all the time. I can usually eat an entire pizza, and then if somebody were to say Hey do you want to go out to eat? I'd probably say Sure, let me grab my coat.

However, lately I have noticed that when dinnertime comes rolling around I usually don't really feel like putting anything down the old gullet.

I wonder why that is?

I can tell you one thing though. Fasting is considered to be quite healthy these days.

I've got quite a circle of friends that fast for several months out of the year. Now fasting used to be considered somewhat dangerous because it is true that some people that didn't know what they were doing have died from fasting. I would even suspect that some people that did know what they were doing have died too from it.

The truth is that we don't fully understand the human body.

I can tell you this though.

Sometimes my body will scream at me to eat vegetables. I will just absolutely crave some cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and all kinds of green and red and yellow vegetables.

I really think that's my body saying that we are requiring vitamins and nutrients that you get from vegetables.

When your body tells you something then I really think we should listen.

Maybe you don't have to come home from work and eat a big dinner every night. If your body is saying that you should eat a big dinner because you're starving, then you definitely shouldn't be fasting though in my opinion.

On the other hand, if your body is saying something like Hey I don't really need any food right now and you feel pretty good about that, then you should probably listen to it.

We don't always have to eat a big meal time, and there are plenty of times when we don't really need to eat anything at all.

I think somehow it has to do with our body flushing toxins out of the system.

I don't know for sure, but I can tell you that when I'm not hungry I usually just don't eat.

I think that's a good plan.

I'm always hungry, even while I'm sleeping hahahaha

I also think that is good sound advice. But it is also hard not to eat when we've accustomed our bodies to expect food at certain times of the day. I would gather that to satisfy the body to eat just enough.
