Amazon's new original movie The Big Sick scores on all levels.

If you're looking for a new romantic comedy to watch and you've got Amazon Prime then you need look no further than The Big Sick.

Every streaming service these days loves to tout the word original.

Sometimes it can be counted on as being truthful and other times not so much.

I can't count the times I've seen a Netflix original show that isn't that original.

However, The Big Sick is definitely original and can only be found on Amazon Prime..

Let's delve a little bit into it and see what it's all about.

The Big Sick stars comedian Kumail Nanjiani who plays himself.

It also stars Holly Hunter, Zoe Kazan, and Ray Romano.

The performances are all around amazing.

The blurb from IMDb says....

Pakistan-born comedian Kumail Nanjiani and grad student Emily Gardner fall in love but struggle as their cultures clash. When Emily contracts a mysterious illness, Kumail finds himself forced to face her feisty parents, his family's expectations, and his true feelings.

It's pretty self explanatory but I didn't expect it to be as funny or as serious as it actually was.

I didn't expect to like this movie as much as I did. I'm not the only one that feels this way either.

The Big Sick won AFI's 2018 movie of the year award.

It also won Broadcast Film's best comedy and Denver Film's best comedy.

In fact it won a whole boatload of awards and was nominated for an even bigger boatload.

That means people loved it...... and with good reason.

Don't listen to Ray Romano. Kumail is actually really funny.

Despite the comedic elements though this movie is mostly a love story...... and in fact it is a true story of Kumail and his wife before they got married.

Zoe Kazan does a great job portraying Emily. Emily is a real person. At the end of the movie you will get to see the real Emily and Kumail together.

This is the story of how a sickness caused a man to rise above the constraining traditions of his family and give everything he had for the cause of true love.

I don't think I've seen a love story touch me as much as this one did since I saw The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

If you haven't seen The Big Sick you owe it to yourself to watch it.

It's not just one of the best romantic comedies I've ever seen........ it's the best movie I've seen this year so far.
